Police & Fire Federal Credit Union Checking Accounts

I want to thank Mabel Castellar at the Washington Township Branch for all her friendly help. The bank is lucky to have her, great customer service.

I first became a member of this credit union in 2012. My husband had already been a member and I decided to join as well. The customer service was incredible. They answered any and all questions without a problem and when faced with a slight issue, they were sympathetic and understanding.

I had another account that was completely forgotten about and due to fees, it had gone into the negative. In order to open an account with Police & Fire, I had to take care of that account first and return to the branch off of Street Road in Bensalem, PA. Everything ran so smoothly. My family moves around a lot due to my husband being a U.S. Marine and the credit union takes the time out to call us if anything looks suspicious. We have received calls about our card being used in different states and they wanted to make sure that there weren't any fraudulent charges. I truly appreciate that.

The Police & Fire Federal Credit Union has been one of the best credit unions I have banked with. The people are always polite and friendly and give a warm welcome every time I come in. The banking is also great, easy to access, and sign up was simple as ever, and 0 surcharge fees for every ATM I go too. The loans are nice too, no extra hidden fees, and they are easily approved if you are loyal and a good customer. The hours are a tab bit goofy like most general unions but they are easily accommodated to when you plan.

Overall I recommend this union to everyone.

I signed up for a checking account for a few reasons: one is because of the proximity to my home. It's within a few blocks of my home which makes it easy. I've had problems with some banks in the past and my credit is poor so credit unions are usually the way for me to go. Getting a checking account wasn't difficult at all. The disclosures were a bit misleading but overall the ease of using the account isn't so bad. The hours are a little goofy but most financial institutions are. They have a wide range of surcharge free ATMs in their network which makes it handy for withdrawals without issue. If you need to go inside to make a deposit or withdrawal, the location I go to on Castor ave is quite clean and usually not a long wait.

I have been a member of the PFFCU for about 3 years now and they have met my expectations of a decent credit union. I use them for their checking account and have not had any real issues so far. Setting up the account was very easy and they even gave me a debit card which allows me to withdraw from 3000+ ATMS with 0 surcharge.

They also offer personal loans which I have taken advantage of on more than one occasion. The process for setting up the loan was very easy and allowed me to pay the loan back effortlessly without any hidden fees or surcharges.

Their customer service is also decent. Every time I go in, I am greeted with respect and feel welcomed.

Overall, I recommend this credit union.

No, no, just NO. I opened an account with them a few years back, because they were conveniently located close to a place I go very often. Opening the account wasn't difficult at all, so I have to give them four stars for that. But their disclosures are never that clear. And their customer service? Oh, my god! I've been to several branches and every teller and customer service person was so incredibly rude. They don't say hello or goodbye. I consider myself pretty lenient with customer service, but this is a consistent issue time after time. I have the money and it just sits there; I conduct all of my banking with them online now. I'll likely close the account very soon because it's just a waste of my time. PFFCU gives credit unions a bad name.

I have to say that I have been a member of PFFCU for over 4 years! I have family that been members for 3x longer than that and referred me. On the topic of referring, a couple of times a year they have an awesome referring program! It was the bonus money in the referral program that made me switch to this Credit Union. Who doesn't like "free&' money just for signing up or getting a debit card? The local branch that I go to here the tellers are so customer friendly and put your needs first. Another plus, that I want with a bank. Also, when I go in they usually have enough tellers operating that there is barely a wait. Nothing like going into a business and being served right away! My kind of business!

The only downfall I have with PFFCU is the hours. However, they have "normal" hours, compared to my previous bank that had very customer friendly hours (which even included Sunday!) PFFCU doesn't have that perk, but that is the only thing I can say is a "con" Which really isn't a con anyway, if you are used to those type of hours from any other credit union or bank! PFFCU really sets an example on how a bank or credit union should be ran! If you have family members that are already a member, I highly recommend you get them to refer you so you can become a member of this fabulous credit union too!
