Renasant are the worst bank I've ever had the misfortune to deal with, and it's not even close. They bought out The First which I was a customer of for years with no issues. The takeover was a complete mess resulting in me being locked out of my account and unable to access my money for weeks.
They also, without my knowledge or consent, drafted me into their most expensive account type that charges a monthly maintenance fee, on top of fees for every transaction. I'm pretty sure they ding you just for looking at your debit card. My account at The First was a free checking so I should have at least been put into the basic simple checking account type where the fee is waived for meeting a minimum balance but instead they shafted me with a Rewards Extra so that they could drain me for as much as they could. This company will nickel and dime you any way they are able. It's a scam.
I have been fighting with them for a week now to try and get my account closed because I want to be free of them. Their 'live chat' is staffed with the most unhelpful people possible who cannot give you any information about your account and seemingly they can't do anything. Using a cheese grater as a loofah is a less painful experience than dealing with this bank. Negative ten stars.

Absolutely the worst bank I've ever encountered. My bank card was compromised four times between June and November, and they made me pay to have it replaced all four times, even though it was compromised on their end. They will nickel and dime you to death. I can assure you, a one-star rating is absolutely more than what they deserve!

If I could take that one star back, I would, for this bank. My card was compromised, and a thousand dollars were stolen from me, and they refused to help me. I have proof that it wasn't me who withdrew the money, as I was in another state at the time. They knew I was out of town; they even sent a text asking if I was attempting to withdraw money, which I wasn't. So they know but refused to help me. I will be closing my account and going with a different bank. If you have a problem with this bank, they won't help you in any way.

I would be shocked if the rating listed above is in any way accurate. Renasant bought out The First (where I was originally) and has since made my life horrible at every opportunity. When the merge first happened, they said I would be able to keep my current app. I was not able to. This is whatever. However, I downloaded the new app, put in the correct information, and was still not allowed to see my account because they wanted to confirm it was me through a code. Several times I attempted to do this through text message. Literal hours. Ultimately, I scheduled them to call me. Once the bank did, I was finally able to get in. However, I still struggle with the app. They process so slowly that even when I put in a transfer to make sure that I have money to make a purchase, it doesn't go through in time and I get an overdraft fee ($35-$40). I am done and am switching to regions. Screw you Renasant.

Customer service is ineffective. Renasant Bank acquired The First Bank on the Gulf Coast and has been unsuccessful since the August 4th transition. Account information was not made accessible, and customer care services were overwhelmed due to the high volume of calls for help. I called the Tupelo main number, but no one was available to assist. It took two days for online account information to become available, and there are still pending questions. Local branches are overwhelmed with calls that cannot or will not be resolved. There was very little, if any, preparation for this transition. No effort has been made to help customers other than ineffective call centers. The state and federal banking authorities should investigate this acquisition.

Bought out The First Bank. Horrible service leading up to the full transfer. Full transfer arrives and they tell us to prepare for the transition. They proceed to lock our accounts and push back launch time three times so far, potentially holding us hostage one to two weeks. First sold out in the worst possible way. Used them for 20+ years but Renasant is trash.

Renasant took over the bank I have been with for 20 years. Now, free checking is no longer free, transfers are no longer free, replacement debit cards are no longer free, ATM withdrawals are no longer free... this bank is extremely greedy. There are plenty of free options, even if you have to choose one that isn't local. I had three accounts that now cost $78 per year per account, amounting to $234 a year, to have checking accounts, which is unreasonable. How could you trust a company like this with handling your money?

The Inner Perimeter Branch in Valdosta GA is run by grotesquely rude, incompetent, unprofessional and oblivious staff especially the manager. I put my PNC debit card in the atm in order to withdraw cash to deposit into my Renasant account. Because this branch doesn't bother to service their atm machine, it is broken. As a result, it kept my card and did not give me the money. The branch manager stated to my face that if it had been a Renasant card, she could release it to me, but because it was not a Renasant card, she was not going to release it to me. Who are these embeciles??? Why are they still in business??? I have had similar problems with them before, and I have already closed my business account there. I am definitely going to close my personal account. My PNC doesn't have a branch in South Georgia, so it is incredibly inconvenient for me that this incompetent, unethical, cost-cutting, pathetic branch with its nonfunctional atm would consciously, intentionally refuse to release back to me my card at least, truly they owe me more than that. The staff at this branch are SO INCREDIBLY NASTY TO THE CUSTOMERS, AS IF THEY ENJOY IT. No wonder this branch is performing so poorly.

Renasant is a terrible bank with policies that seem designed to drain people's money. Do not bank with them. For instance, if you cannot find a Renasant ATM to withdraw money, they charge you double for any transactions that you make. DO NOT BANK WITH RENASANT!!

Horrible bank to deal with. Find another place. I had a business account and personal accounts with them and encountered problems. I think they sold to someone else. Avoid.
