Patelco Credit Union Credit Cards

I have had my Patelco credit card for two years. I have never missed a payment or been late. When my check is deposited into my account, I pay my credit card bill on or very near to that day. As I am only paid once per month, my payments are typically sent in at the end of the month.

However, for the last two months, I have been fighting to have my June payment credited to my account. I have called multiple times and even went into the local branch. At the branch, the manager in Elk Grove told me she would send a notice to the department that handles these issues to have my account brought up to date. That was a month ago. No emails from her, just notices that my account is past due. I have shown them again and again how my payments are made at the end of the month for the next month. I have done this for two years. Now they are saying I pay my bill too early and it is taken as an extra payment not my monthly payment. Fine. I pay too promptly.

I worked in a bank for several years. If anything like this happened, we would have thanked the customer for their prompt payments, credited the payment, and let them know to pay after a certain date to avoid the issue in the future.

What I have been shown by Patelco is that explaining the situation is more important than fixing the situation. Their approach to someone who pays on time has been completely punitive. What makes this more confounding is that two months ago, they were expressing their appreciation and telling us how much their customers meant to them. The poor response to the cyberattack was bad, but the sheer lack of consistency of this institution is astounding.

Patelco DDA & Savings account services are excellent.

I made the mistake of assuming its credit card services would be, too. The credit card customer service is so bad, it's disturbing. They change policies and even usage limitations without giving notifications.

I received mine 6 weeks ago and was using it just fine until yesterday when, out of the blue, I can no longer use it at gas stations or any store. When inquiring about with customer service, I got lectured about a technology that got implemented in 2017 -- 7 years ago. There was no interest or ability to research why I could use my card just last week and now can't.

The credit card polices that limit use, the lack of communications with members, and the substandard customer service are way below the rest of Patelco's standards.

I do not recommend getting a Patelco credit card.

I use it for gas travels, do to the inflation on gas , I love this card and it useful in my time of need, even if I need to purchase food

Excellent customer service During covid-19 a lengthy phone app which is so irritating. Almost makes you think about closing the account. Excessive wait time is ridiculous but when you finally get a representative the service is great

Due to lack of branches Add low credit limits on this card it makes it difficult to utilize this card on a very frequent basis Although the interest rate is pretty favorable at 11.25%

Patelco gave me a chance to start rebuilding my credit. Thank God they helped me because my family had a wonderful Christmas because of them. They sent me my secured credit card in time for Christmas. In addition, I was able to use my card for emergency. Without my card, I would not have been able to afford my four new tires. Thank you Patelco Credit Union! You are a lifesaver!
