What I Like About the Capital Vacations Credit Card

5,000 bonus rewards

This isn’t the biggest bonus by any means, but it is extremely easy to earn. You just have to make a single purchase.

No annual fee

This saves you an average of $28.25 per year compared to the 1,500+ other credit card offers that we track. It also gives you the freedom to get the card solely for Capital Vacations purchases, since you don’t have to use it a certain amount to earn enough rewards to offset the annual fee. Credit cards without annual fees are common, though, and their features vary widely, so it still pays to shop around. 

5X rewards on Capital Vacations purchases

This is an excellent earning rate. It can help you save a lot of money if you’re going to book travel through Capital Vacations anyway. It’s probably not enough to justify switching from another travel booking plan, though.

2X rewards on travel, gas & more

This middle-tier rewards rate applies to general travel purchases, as well as gas, EV charging and RCI purchases. The more you spend in these categories, the more of a fit the Capital Vacations Mastercard will be.

3-night certificate offer

If you charge $10,000 to this card in a calendar year, you get a certificate good for a three-night stay with Capital Vacations. This certificate is worth $250, according to the company, but it only applies to one-bedroom units at select properties, subject to availability.

0% intro APR

You can get 0% for 6 months, as well as 0% for 15 months for balances transferred in the first 45 days your account is open. These interest-free promotions could help you save a fair amount of money, compared to the card’s regular rates. What I Don’t Like About the Capital Vacations Credit Card

1X rewards on most types of purchases

You can get this from any rewards card, and a lot of other cards are more transparent about how much the rewards are worth. You can also get 1.5% to 2% cash back at a minimum from some cards, which would be preferable to using the Capital Vacations® World Mastercard® for purchases beyond its bonus categories.

High balance transfer fee

If this card had a more reasonable transfer fee, it would be a sneaky-good option for balance transfers. But if you’re going to pay this much, you could get a far longer 0% intro period.

High regular APR

If you don’t pay your statement balance in full by the due date every month after the low-interest introductory promotions end, this card’s high interest rate will cost you and it won’t be worth owning. 

Requires good credit
