Received a letter today that the Marathon Credit Card program (both the regular Marathon card and the Marathon branded Visa) will be ending on 1/31/19. This is one of our oldest accounts with a high credit limit so I look for our FICO to take a substantial hit. Terrible when consumers are at the mercy of these business decisions that have absolutely nothing to do with the way they are handling their money.

I agree. It's one thing when a business closes your account because you haven't been great about making payments. It's another when it's something totally out of your control. And unfortunately, there's no difference to the credit bureaus.

Marathon is ending their credit card program and you expect Comenity to keep your account open?

Have had a credit card with them forever. Made the mistake of opening a dispute when the same balance ($54) was being reported month after month when it was actually zero. Comenity Bank pulled the account from my credit report and since it was one of my oldest accounts, that cause my FICO to plummet. This happened in July and they still haven't put it back although my account remains open.

The Marathon Gas credit card has good returns on gas purchases. You can rack up quite a bit in savings just on the gas purchases alone. The only problem comes in the fact that Marathon is often not the cheapest in gas prices where I am, so it usually comes out to about the same as if I had gotten my gas elsewhere. Great if gas prices in your area are low for Marathon.

Marathon does NOT offer automatic payments. I have more than 30 credit cards and ALL offer automatic payments. I travel heavily for work, and I am often in very remote areas with no internet access. Payments are due at the beginning of each month, and I am almost always in a remote area during this time. So, even though I pay $200-$500 on every bill, I get hit with a $25 fee EVERY month, and Marathon refuses to implement automatic payments because they are making so much money every month by ripping off people like me. Please boycott their cards as they blatantly robbing people. Even though they are the most convenient fuel provider in my area, and there is a station next to my neighborhood, none of my family will never set foot in another Marathon facility. I have closed the credit card account with them.

I have used other gas cards like Marathon but I am seeing that Marathon has more perks than the others I have used. They have more of a bonus by using them than others which is a good thing especially when you are getting gas. Their interest rates are not that bad either compared to others.

The Marathon Credit Card seems like a normal gas station credit card. It has decent reward levels for purchasing at Marathon locations though the tiers seem rather high, I know I rarely spend $500 a month at gas stations and I'd have to wait a long time to reach the $25 dollar reward limit. I feel that a grocery store membership or CostCo card will save you more on gas in the long run. The no annual fee of the Marathon credit card is nice, I currently pay $99 annually for my credit card.

I've had this Marathon Card for a year now, and it is the main credit card that I use. My wife and I drive a pretty far distance to get to work, so this card is very convenient to help us save money on gas.Even if the gas prices are not as high as they usually are, it is always nice to save $0.10 or $0.25 per gallon at the pump. This really adds up, and is a great savings. The above information can still serve as a fun fact, but why don’t we get into what the Marathon Card has to offer. I like this card to my Chase Freedom cash back card where you certainly have to be using it for a lot of purchases to get huge amounts of cash back, but at the same time, even if you’re not you’re still getting a fair deal of cash back. This card is great when compared to other. I do enjoy the fact that the gains can increase depending how much you spend within a month. gas credit cards.he interest rate is just about on par with others out there. The rewards get better with the more money you spend.

I definitely don't spend more than $500 per month at gas stations, so I would never hit the higher rebate thresholds. Plus, having to wait until you have earned $25 in cash back before getting any benefit is a long time to wait. Basically if I fill up with 10 gallons every fill up, I would get $0.50 cash back. It would then take me 50 separate fill ups to earn enough for the $25 gas card. If my husband and I would both use it, that would cut that time in half, but that still seems like very little benefit compared to other credit card offers out there.
