You can apply for the Shell Gas Card either online, or over the phone at (877) 697-4355. To apply, you will need to provide personal information such as your name, date of birth, home address, annual income, and Social Security Number. The same methods apply to the Shell Credit Card.
You may receive a decision instantly. If not, you will be notified of the decision by mail within 7-10 business days. Rarely, however, it can take the issuer up to 30 days to make a ruling. If approved for an account, your card should arrive within 14 days of the decision.
This is a card that can only be used at Shell gas stations. It is designed to provide convenience to people who may not be able to get approved for a general-purpose credit card.
When you apply for a Shell Mastercard Gas Card, they immediately say congratulations you are approved showing a picture of the Shell Mastercard gas card. Then about three days later, you get an email stating that they are not issuing a Mastercard but instead a Shell gas card only. After doing a hard check on my credit and causing my good credit to go down to Fair credit, they refused to report that they just approved me for a Shell Gas Card. Then they lie about when they will report to the Credit Agencies, and then they do not mail the credit card. Its now been two weeks and no card. I call their customer service in a foreign country and they dont have a clue when I will get the card and they claim they mailed it. We dont have that bad of mail service in the US. So it is a lie when they try to blame the US Post Office. When or if the card does arrive, I will wait until it is reported on my credit report and my score goes up. Then I will think about not doing business with them.

This review is for the shell gift card of $500. Claim to be free if you pick the correct box. Well I pick the correct box and after answering 8 questions. They wanted my credit card to claim my free gas card by paying $2.50. I do not know about you, but this is not free if a consumer have to pay anything and secondly I think this is a scam because knownone should should have to give up their credit card information when they suppose to socall have win a gas card of $500. To my this is defraud of a person and talking advantage of the person with false intent to due so. Please pass this note on to other consumers

My problem is that consistently all the Shell stations in Middle Tennessee are owned by 2 companies one being Twice Daily and they charge 10 cents more per gallon than non-Shell stations. So when you use your 10 cents off per gallon Shell card it works out to the same price. We pay our card off at the end of each month so there is no advantage to using the Shell card.

Do not get a card with them. We've had our card since 1992. We miss one payment last month. The bill was lost. We paid it as soon as we got this last one. They suspended our card without notice. So we will be going with another card and we won't be spending any more with shell.

I switched from a regular Shell credit card to the Shell/FuelRewards black card a year ago. Prior to that I had to swipe both my Shell card and Fuel Rewards card separately. So, in addition to offering a larger rebate, this was also a much simpler process. Boy, was I wrong. I immediately noticed I wasn't getting a lower price when I pumped my gas. So, I called Shell (I think) and was told the credits on that card would appear on my billing statement, which is handled by Citibank. Wrong. No billing credit. I called Shell and they bounced me to Citibank, saying it was their problem. Citi bounced me back to Shell, etc. After nine months of follow the bouncing ball, I finally spoke with a Citi rep who said it was indeed Citi that needed to activate (link) the Fuel Rewards to the card and he would take care of it immediately. On my next bill, I finally received a bill credit, but as it turns out, it was only for the prior months. It still was not linked to my card. Fast forward to last Friday, when I again received my bill with no credits. Spent a total of 3 hours on one phone call, getting transferred back and forth between Citi and Shell. Finally got a supervisor at Citi who said he understood the problem and would definitely be able to take care of it for me. Before I could say BOO, a lady answered with, Hi, I'm Monica. How may I help you?" After questioning, turns out she was with FuelRewards, which is a third corporation, completely separate from either Citi or Shell. They are Excentus Corporation out of Texas. She tried to bounce me back to Citi, saying it was all their fault. I protested and informed her to coordinate between Excentus Corporation, Citi and Shell to get the problem solved between them, as I had already spent tens and tens of hours to no avail. She agreed and said I would get either an email or phone call in the coming days to let me know it had been fixed. I supplied her with ALL my account info. Two hours later, I began receiving emails from Excentus Corporation (apparently via Salesforce???) wanting me to supply the info that I had already given, Each time I did, I would receive another automated email from Excentus Corporation with a new trouble ticket number. With each new ticket number, I would then, a couple of hours later, get an email from another rep requesting the same info I had provided to all the previous reps. When I reply, I get another automated email with a new case number and a new rep. Yes, that was exhausting! After a year, I am canceling my accounts with all 3 corps and will be filing Federal and State complaints for deceptive billing practices and buying my gas at Chevron. Unless you want to waste a year and end up with nothing but aggravation, don't bother with this SCAM.

I have been a customer since 2011, pay my account in each month on time and in full. I received a letter, stating they have closed my account. Because My credit has dropped. Unbelievable how they would treat a customer with so little respect, that has been a paying customer for nor. 9 years

I got this card because it didn't come with the temptation of AUs to use everywhere like a Visa or MasterCard, but turns out you can't reliably use it at Shells either. More than half the time it just says "see cashier" and if you call the 800 number and spend 5 minutes going through the account info just to be told call back during normal business hours but they don't say when that is. I got through to a person once who put me on hold for 10 minutes and hung up on me, I call back again and they put me to the department to dispute an existing charge. The card is completely useless if it cannot be relied upon to get gas when I'm out. Maybe others' luck is better, but this card is total trash.

I have used Shell and Chevron gas credit cards for over 50 years. Last year. Chevron changed banks and doing business with them became a living nightmare. This year, Shell changed everything also. This week, we moved so we called Shell for an address change. The customer service person's English was so bad we couldn't understand him. He wanted my password, which I have never been given one. He then wanted my SS#, so I gave it to him. He then wanted my banking # and information, which I refused to give. I'm done with Shall. A 50 Yr. customer means nothing to them.

I travel frequently and every time I leave the state I have to call their rude customer service people and tell them I'm traveling, otherwise they put a stop on credit charged away from home. Total crap! stopped using it and went to Marathon. No problems. Goodbye Shell!

Exactly. This card is blocked at the pump every time I attempt to fuel up away from my home area and requires much time to contact the Fraud Dept to get it unlocked. This card is a complete waste of time. In fact, last time it was blocked at a gas station that I use regularly in the same town as my billing address. CITI Bank Fraud Department is out-of-control.

I had been considering getting this gas card for several years. I like that it offers five cents per gallon off for all Shell gas purchases. I like that the card has no annual fee. It has a high interest rate, but I pay off my cards in full every month. Overall, I would recommend the Shell Gas Card.
