By paying the One Key+™ Card’s fee, big spenders can save a lot more at the end of the day.  

In addition to its annual fee, one thing not to like about the One Key+™ Card is its high APR, which would be a drain on your savings if you carry a balance from month to month. Rewards redemption could be more flexible, too, as you’re only able to redeem for Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo bookings.

2% in OneKeyCash - 3% in OneKeyCash

The One Key+™ Card rewards cardholders with 3% in OneKeyCash on Expedia, Hotels.com, Vrbo purchases, 3% in OneKeyCash at gas stations, grocery stores, and on dining, as well as 2% in OneKeyCash on other purchases. So, if you want to earn bonus rewards in popular everyday spending categories, then put those rewards toward a vacation, this card is a strong contender. 
 

$100 anniversary bonus

After you pay your annual fee for another 12 months with the One Key+™ Card, you get $100 in rewards to use on Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo. If you take at least one trip per year, that basically pays off the annual fee by itself from the second year on. 

Each anniversary bonus expires 12 months after it’s issued.
 

No foreign transaction fees

If your Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo bookings take you out of the country, you won’t get charged extra for roaming. Most other credit cards apply a surcharge of around 3%. 
 

Up to $1,000 in cell phone protection 

Phones have a way of breaking or finding their way into the sticky fingers of thieves. But if you pay your monthly cell phone bill with the One Key+™ Card, you’re covered up to $1,000 for such incidents. You can even get up to two paid claims per year, and you only have to pay a $25 deductible each time. 
 

Automatic Gold status

Having the One Key+™ Card gets you Gold status in the One Key loyalty program, assuming you also have a One Key account and an online account with Vrbo, Hotels.com or Expedia. Gold status saves you 20% or more on rooms at 10,000+ hotels. Plus, if you charge $30,000 to the card in a calendar year, you’ll qualify for Platinum status and extra perks. 
 

TSA PreCheck® / Global Entry® Statement Credit

You can get a statement credit of up to $120 if you use this card to pay your application fee for a Trusted Traveler Program, such as Global Entry® or TSA PreCheck®. Other programs qualifying for this statement credit are NEXUS, SENTRI, and FAST. This feature is common among travel rewards cards. 

What I Don’t Like About the One Key+™ Card

$99 annual fee

Although the One Key+™ Card’s annual fee is several times higher than average for a credit card offer right now, it’s worth paying if you regularly book travel accommodations through Vrbo, Hotels.com and Expedia. For example, if you earn the initial bonus by spending $3,000 in the first 3 months, the $400 in OneKeyCash™ you get will basically cancel out the annual fee for years. 

If you’re not keen on paying annual fees, the One Key™ Card is your no-annual-fee alternative. 
 

Limited redemption options

This card only allows you to redeem your rewards toward Vrbo, Hotels.com or Expedia bookings. If you want more flexible travel rewards, consider the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card or the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card instead.  
 

19.24% - 29.24% Variable APR

Like most other travel rewards card, the One Key+™ Card has a high APR. For some context, the average interest rate among credit cards for people with good credit is 23.9% right now, according to WalletHub’s latest Credit Card Landscape Report. The average for people with excellent credit is 17.67%. 

So, if you’re seriously considering getting this card, plan to pay your bill in full every month. That’s the only way to make sure expensive interest charges don’t rob you of savings from rewards. 
 

Good credit needed

To qualify for the One Key+™ Card, you generally need a good or excellent credit score of 700+. You can check your credit score for free here on WalletHub to see if you meet that requirement. The higher your credit score is, the better your chances of getting approved will be. 

Just remember that a high credit score doesn’t guarantee approval. Things like your income and debt have a lot to do with it, too.
