The PayPal Prepaid MasterCard’s negatives unfortunately far outweigh its positive attributes for most use cases. First and foremost are its $4.95 monthly fee and $1.95 ATM withdrawal fee, which promise to make the account quite expensive to maintain, especially if you often need cash. And to add insult to injury, if your card is ever lost or stolen, you’ll have to pay $5.95 for a replacement.
One of the only times this card would make sense is if you’re very popular and don’t mind saddling your friends and family with a mediocre prepaid card. You will receive $5 for each person you refer who opens an account and loads at least $10. That person will get $5, too, but few of us are situated for this sort of prepaid-card Ponzi scheme.

While the American Express prepaid card has much lower fees than most prepaid cards, they do not offer a bill payment service which renders the card useless as an alternative to a checking account. Also they are not affiliated with an ATM network which means that the combination of Amex's ATM fees together with the fee charged by the owner/operator of the ATM can make the Amex card a very costly card for someone that needs frequent ATM access.

The only thing that Orman's prepaid card does is that it shares purchase, payment and other transaction information with TransUnion (one of the major credit bureaus) so that they can study the correlation between that information and the information that is currently included in most consumer credit reports. In other words it is a study that will yield NO changes to a consumer's credit report and credit score. Maybe two years after the study is complete something actionable might emerge.

Amateurs in their field. The commitment letter references "Enclosures" - there are none. It would have been nice to confirm credit terms. Even had controversy about my state of residence. The credit underwriter leaves for vacation, with no backup identified to meet my timing requirements. The website is confusing, requiring a Registration Code, four-digit code, User ID, Password, and Social Security number to log in.

If negative stars were an option, they would be receiving the maximum amount. I don't even have an account with these guys; I've attempted to make one just to get in contact with them, as you can't get past the automated phone system without one. Someone managed to cash a check with my name on it through this bank. Based on other reviews, I wouldn't be shocked if this has happened to others as well. There is no ability to contact them, and considering one of their numbers displayed on their website is a scam number, I wouldn't be surprised if the email provided is the same. This company is a sham and a farce as well. Never bank here!

Don't buy these. If you try to spend the entirety of the card, they put your funds on hold for 30 days and it gets marked as insufficient funds so you can never spend more than half of what's left, and then you have to wait a month to access what was there in the first place. You're better off just using a checking account. Avoid it like the plague.

Avoid this bank at all costs. They were extremely personable and supportive of my business when I took out an SBA-sponsored loan 5 years ago. But the bank was purchased, and like many other businesses today, it's become all about money and not about supporting businesses, which is the founding principle of the SBA. Following an extended health issue, they didn't offer but refused to help restructure the loan, threatened my business regularly, and the loan officer refused to allow me or my attorney to speak with or know the name and contact information of her superior. I'm refinancing to end my relationship with them and have reported their atrocious conduct to the office of the Inspector General of the SBA.

Do not do business with this corporation when I tell you I was scammed under this corporation it's the truth. Thousands of my dollars was taking off my card dealing with The Bancorp system. It was transactions from four different states made off my card and the card was in my possession. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. I'm a nurse and a home health aide, imagine working so hard to save and someone hacked your account, you call them for help because you bank with them and they keep hanging up on you and or have you on hold forever until you just hang up yourself due to you being at work. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. They are scammers, I'm glad I got several different huge platforms because once I get the word out to everyone I'm on hopes that it will make multiple companies pull out from them. Don't do it you guy's, my story is true facts. I'm hundred percent sure it's an inside person and or person's involved. Save yourself the headache and run and I mean run fast!!!!!!!

This company actually allows a scam phone line to operate using the company 844 number. I have a Visa gift card, and when I search online, Bancorp has a webpage associated with the card. There is an official 844 number listed on Bancorp's website to call to check the balance. When I called, the scam representative on the other line took my credit card information, did not give me a balance, and rerouted me to a 411 operator call. The next thing that happened was that multiple unauthorized transactions took place immediately on my credit gift card. Where do I start ? I had a chime account for many years, without ever having an issue, suddenly a couple of months ago they tell me that my account was closed, out of the blue, after I disputed a few things that I shouldn’t have been charged for, and then they were looking into “why” my account was closed and would get back to me, next time I know my whole account was closed, all 3 of them! Checking, savings, and my credit card I had with them as well. Again, I never had any issues with them or this until right than so to me I was taken back by it and confused. No one had any answers for me either, keep giving me the run around and repeating the same thing in every email and phone call, that they had the right to do whatever they wanted to basically, that’s what they might as well have said!! ? Again, never had any issues, concerns, overdraws, nothing!! I used that card for everything for over 2 years!! Running lots of money through it and using it the right way. So after to many emails and calls I basically told them that if that’s how they treat good customers and people than I was glad to not deal with them anymore!! So fast forward to now… I needed a card to use so I could attach to my cash app and transfer my money to be able to use so I went ahead and added and attempted to use my VARO card, I want to add in here right now that I knew already it was this bank who runs both card companies service, so, after transferring my funds over and using my card for a few minor transactions, I wake up today and my account with them is now “under review & they will get back to me” so, I send them everything to show and prove my identity to them thinking that might be the reason, wrong!! They immediately get back to me & tell me that my account is now closed and that my money left on the card will be mailed in a check within 2 weeks!!! ? At that point today I was livid!! I again, do the same thing I did with chime and ask for a valid reason why they did this, they still have not replied back!! Very unprofessional, rude, disrespectful, and untrustworthy!! I just want to let others about my experience before dealing with their hassles and issues. I’m just curious honestly, if it was because my cash app doesn’t match my name when deposited, well it didn’t for years so their new “policy” they tried to say caused this is, is a downright ridiculous and stupid idea and they didn’t even try to fix it. Do not for your own benefit, deal with anyone who has Bancorp operating them. I’m still very upset about this.

Terrible customer service. The Bancorp is fraudulent and keep your money I have called multiple times without any resolution to my complaint. They refuse to refund a charge to my account which the merchant says they credited 6 weeks agian. The customer service reps. are incompetent and will not escalate the issue to a manger.

I called to ask for checks to write and the girl tells me to just write my routing number on a piece of paper and give it to the contractor. What a joke!!! I'll be closing my account ASAP. This Prepaid debit card had been my way to combat fraud and overdraft fees, Now I will never use them again. I contacted Uber for a ride to a doctors appointment and the driver never showed up. when the time of my appointment had passed I canceled the trip. waited several days for pending transaction to drop off, NOPE contacted My Vanilla Card and was told to contact Uber, I did, for several days I tried to contact them, to no avail. Contacted My Vanilla card again, and was told that they would release the funds on February 5th. Are you freaking Kidding me???? what Bank hold a pending transaction for 2 freaking months? I have tried every way possible to get Uber to release the charges but they cant even find my trip,BECAUSE IT WAS CANCELED!!!!!!! tHE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT MY VANILLA CARD LEAVES MORE THAN A LOT TO BE DESIRED. AS SOON AS THE MONEY IS RELEASED, I FULLY INTEND TO GET THE MONEY OFF THE CARD AND THE CUT THAT SUCKER IN HALF. I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN, I AM GOING BECK TO WALMART PREPAID CARDS.
