They charge businesses based on the amount of material supplies we buy in the calculation, along with the amounts we paid to subcontractors, resulting in thousands in overcharges. They also waited two years to bill us for findings from an adjustment. They had refused to update our business address although they were notified months before of the change. They got upset when we were not paying the bill they were sending 2 years late and to the wrong addres. They never emailed us the bill and contacted our ins agent threatening to send us to collections. Stay far away from their unethical practices.

I had to make a homeowner's claim after Hurricane Helene, and Central Insurance was prompt and professional in handling my claim. It was quick and easy to file a claim on the app. I received my money within 24 hours after filing the claim.

Horrible experience. My son was rear-ended by one of their clients when he stopped at a stop light. From my very first contact with them, I found them to be condescending. They dragged their heels on everything. I had to call the police department and get them to send the police report to them even though I gave them all the information. They haggled with the shop I selected and eventually just totaled the car, offering me a lowball offer. I did get them up some, but then I got an email asking me to send them my signed paperwork. I asked for a shipping label, and their curt response was that they did not provide prepaid shipping labels nor did they reimburse. I felt like I was totally inconveniencing them; somehow, they just did not grasp that my son was the victim—all he did was stop at a stoplight.

I had 3 policies with Central and I was late with my payment as I was out of town for 7 weeks and my agent never let me know about the cancelation. I offered to pay the entire premium for two years and give them the insurance on my residency but no luck. Central insurance would not even talk to me. I have over 10 policies with my insurance agent. The fact that Central would not even talk to me about this issue is very disappointing.

All insurance companies do a great job collecting premiums. This insurance company is a scam. The claims department seems great at the start. Then they will ignore you. Lie to you. Give you various reasons why they aren’t able to process the claim. My advice is steer far away. Insurance should protect you and be available when needed.

Customer for their car insurance for many years, homeowners for about 6. They had good rates and good technology to collect my premiums. Then I had to file a claim, denied despite obviously being covered in the language of the contract. They found a contractor to offer a lowball band aid fix, and said because that offer existed they wouldn't pay. That contractor was awful, I refused to hire them so am now out of pocket for the proper fix. Took 8 months to get to that point with tarps on the roof to keep the water out.

USA Today, Auto insurers including Allstate, Geico to give back millions as coronavirus keeps drivers off roads (Allstate, American Family, Geico, Liberty Mutual, Progressive, State Farm). Michigan orders all insurance companies to refund partial auto insurance premiums for driving less. Where is our refund? Instead we received a 10% hike in premiums!

What's the point of insurance if they don't follow the policies they agree to? They denied my homeowners claims even though damage fits within an endorsement I paid for. And they still haven't provided an explanation as to why they've denied my claim. Very disappointed with Central and will definitely never use them again. The sad thing is that if they had simply filled the claim as required by the agreement, in the long run they would have made money on me since they'd have a loyal customer who doesn't have repairs often. Instead, I'll never use them again and they're going to be stuck with a lawsuit.

My wife and I insure our home with Central Insurance, but I have to disclose that they were not our first choice. We tried Allstate, who was very encrypted about what was wrong with our house that we needed to fix before our policy would be in effect. Therefore, I tried to fix what they said was wrong with it and they canceled our policy without notice. So I asked the previous owners who they used and we were sent to Central.
This is where things got less confusing. As soon as I got on the phone with them I was told exactly what they needed in order to cover our house and a way we could get it to them, every month we get an email from our agent with our information and we are constantly informed of changes or considerations of changes that the company may have. Every time I get confused, which happens more than I like to admit, I call them and they are able to answer me honestly and simply. The rates are almost half of what Allstate wanted to charge us, and we even received a refund check for paying more than we needed and as soon as I was informed of the overpayment, they adjusted the monthly rate for us and our house payments got lowered! I recommend them to everyone!

I insured my home with Central Mutual Insurance for several years. They only sell insurance through independent agents. Other than the inconvenience of visiting my agent, the process was easy. There were numerous credits for insuring my home and car, safe driving, longtime customer, etc that helped keep the price relatively competitive. The communication is great. They offer a large number of technologies that other independent agent insurance companies might not offer, such as a customer portal, E-Policy, and a mobile app. I enjoyed using those, and not receiving paper bills or sending in a check. I added equipment breakdown coverage to help provide coverage to my electronics.
I never had a claim to file while I was at Central, and cannot speak about that end.
I have nothing bad to say about Central. In the end, I ended up moving my home to a different carrier due to a significant savings in the cost.
