I was told the loan was a fixed rate. Apparently after paying this loan for 3 years, the interest rate changed a few times and the assumed auto-pay amount wasn't enough. Then after 3 "Late Fees" of $25 later, I found out and asked for a reversal and they could not clear it. All my other banks if this were to happen provide a reversal. Their customer service also tried to send me a spreadsheet of the rate changes over the last year. Who does that? Why can't they be easy to work with instead of trying to nickel and dime you. F- service.

Help with my loan while I was in the hospital deferedmy payment for 2 months which helped while on short term disability and was only receiving a check once a month
Worst System Ever Please avoid at all cost. Password verification does not work all the time, the automated system call you to give new password no option for email or text. After 2 failed attempts they block your account. The automated system does not pick up anything you say no matter how clear you say it. Customer support always 2hrs wait no matter what time of day they're open. WORST SERVICER EVER like the system is still in the 90's with a modern frontend.
Avoid this CU as possible. They don't really care their clients. This is the worst CU I had in my life. There are many financial institutes out there that better than this one.
This company is the worst company I have ever dealt with in my life. They have a Secure Chat option that is only for the people that don't work a 9 to 5 job. They need to extend the chat times for everyone. Then they have it closed on the weekends. Then when you call them they have you on a greater than 50 minute wait just to talk to someone. I regret coming to Affinity Federal Credit Union. Once I get the chance I am closing my checking account and go with a bank that is more inclined to assist their customers rather than just keeping them on hold for over an hour. Not being able to deposit checks into the account and not being able to talk to anyone that actually helps. This company really needs to get their priorities situated. If you didn't have customers none of you would have a job. This company needs to have better customer service skills. DON NOT BANK WITH THIS BANK AT ALL. GO TO SOMOEONE ELSE.
This is the Aldi's of Banks. Everything about them is only base quality. Even with nobody inside the bank, (which is most of the time), the simplest deposit takes almost 5 minutes. Having been a former TD Bank customer it took 1-2 minutes maximum. You spent the most time waiting for the half dozen customers ahead of you. Affinity has to bring your information up on their slow antiquated computer monitor to look at something. Nothing automated or functionally modern here!! TD Bank counts your cash in a counting machine and runs your check through a scanner and sometimes it would take 60 seconds. Affinity then produces receipts that you must take home and hold up to the light to read the barely visible print and then make notes on the receipt to make sure it is legible at a later time. Then after 2 months + of depositing my business checks into my personal account, with full endorsements, they tell me I can't do that just before I am scheduled to make a substantial payment. Simply boneheads who work there in a incompetent setting. I guess I had the wrong idea about Credit Unions being at the top of their game. Instead this branch in Stony Point, NY is at the bottom of the barrel! And they only work M-F 9-4! You have to have a really simplistic life to find their low, low energy an asset to your financial prosperity. While property values keep going up, I suppose that bodes well for them moving out of this town. They wont be missed!!!
Answering service takes far too long like most banks. Should be improved. Have asked for a reduction on interest rates twice and have been told that it is being considered. Never had a follow up. I hope my new auto loan offers a better service
This is an absolute NO from me. When I went over my loan with the guy and signed all the paper he said it was one amount, it was never that amount always $200 more than he said. I tried to call over and over to figure out why no one could tell me. Then got calls all the time my payment was late LIES. I had to literally show them where to find my last payment. Then finally I needed to call them and they said that insurance has been added for an extra $200 monthly and I asked why, I already have insurance, and I never authorized them to do that. The lady got angry with me and told me to call a different number to figure it all out. THIS HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE DEALING WITH THEM.
I've never dealt with a financial institution so difficult to work with.
About a week ago, I attempted to establish a relationship with AFCU, by opening a savings account. All seemed to go well, until I was asked to provide proof of physical residency.
No problem! I uploaded the front page of my lease agreement, and sent it over.
This, unfortunately, was declined. I was asked to then provide either a piece of government issued mail, a utility bill, or the full copy of my lease.
Here's the rub: I do not have mail sent to my home. Of any kind. This includes my driver's license, vehicle registration(s), banking statements, and car insurance policy. Which I explained to AFCU.
"No worries!", they said. "A utility bill with the service address on it, or your full lease, will suffice!".
Excellent. I then uploaded a copy of my utility bill, being certain to blank out any charges or account numbers.
This. Was. Also. Denied. ....because I blanked out my personal information.
You've got to be kidding me. So, this time, I uploaded the entire lease document to their website. All 20 some-odd pages.
Today, I check on their website. They do not need any further documents! Huzzah! Thrilled by this, I checked the application status.
Denied. Refund issued.
When I called to inquire, I was told that it was because they could not verify my address. Never mind the fact that I gave them all of the information they asked for. When I asked the rep what they do for customers that do not have mail sent to their home, there was a lengthy pause of silence...followed by "Well...most people have at least one piece of mail sent to their home".
Yeah. Not true for those of us with PO Boxes.
With that said, I opened up an account with GCFU in ten minutes, with no hoops to jump through. I'll be very happy to do business with them.
