Apple Federal Credit Union Reviews
What's Your Rating?
1. It's not abundantly clear at the outset, but you need to apply to join the credit union before you can get a heloc. That's not unusual for a credit union and it wasn't hard to just open a simple savings account, but that wasn't specified at the outset and one more hurdle in their process.
2. The application process was anything but straightforward. Once it went to underwriting the quality of service dropped dramatically with slipshod and piecemeal communication and difficult to manage systems for viewing and updating documentation with them. It was impossible to follow where information should be uploaded and it seemed to go into a black hole, with no way to know what was already there.
3. After being approved, I received no fewer 5 calls about "an important issue with my mortgage" which was just someone at FCU trying to sell me mortgage insurance. The tone of the messages and voicemails made it seem like there was a legitimate problem when in fact it was just a sales call. This dark pattern alone is enough to make me not use them again for any new product. At every interaction I told them I wasn't interested in it, that I wouldn't be opting in, and to mark that in their system. Months later the calls still come in occasionally.
4. Now that I'm actually trying to use the heloc, I've learned I can't move more than $10,000 per day, and $25,000 per week which makes it almost useless for any large project. I intend to call to order checks, but it's not clear if that's even possible. There is no way to do this from the mobile app or website.
Unfortunately we're in the midst of our project and need to use it to pay those expenses. I've let my contractor know that I'll need some lead time to make sure I can get the money out of the heloc in order to pay him in a timely fashion, but after the project is done and the loan is paid off we'll be closing all accounts with Apple FCU.
I will call the local news (I have a contact) to turn this into a story. It directly contradicts their brand message of "loving their customer neighbors.
When I spoke to Customer Service she was "surprised" the fraud department didn't get ahold of me.
I live on a fixed income - thanks for making it hard to live this month.
Worst bank I have ver banked with. Where do I start? I DO NOT RECOMMEND this bank for absolutely anything. I have a savings account with them and I was scammed and had to use $800 from my savings. I disputed it and even with all the evidence showing how it happened, why it happened, etc. (not going to bore you with the details). They closed my dispute and told me that under THEIR guidelines because I was forced to do it and I had done it that it was not considered fraud. UNDER THEIR GUIDELINES fraud is only considered if someone uses your card without your knowledge honestly I have never heard of a bank not protecting there customers even when they are forced to do something. SO I went ahead and asked them, "so you are telling me if I have a gun pointed at my head telling me to do something this dispute would be closed and it screw me right?" that is pretty much what they were telling me. This bank does not care about there customers they only care about keeping your money, and bringing money in. I pulled my money out that very day and decided to go with another bank whose policies aren't stupid and ARE about there customers. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. I REPEAT, THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. They are a waste of time to invest in. I had been with them for years and was quite disappointed in learning how they do not care, they only care about money. If you are looking for a bank that cares I recommend NRL, Bank of America, Capital One, etc. in conclusion do yourself a favor and take your service elsewhere.
Worst loan process I have ever experienced. We are trying to get a loan on a building we own and that is 100% paid off. My wife and I have been Apple members for years and we both have credit scores over 800. We started this loan process in FEBRUARY! We were told by our loan officer the loan has been approved by their board and should go to closing around June 15th. It's now July 9th. NOTHING YET! How is this possible. We still have no closing date. No letter of approval or intent. If you need money don't use Apple bank. I will keep everyone posted if and when this ever goes to closing.
