I would give 0 stars if I could. I canceled a workers' compensation policy after one day because I didn't need it anymore and got charged more than the initial premium. $323 to be exact, instead of just the premium charge of $273. Companies and industries like this need to be held accountable.

Absolutely horrible first experience with Markel. I cannot believe USAA is connected to this sub-par insurance provider in any way. When I contacted the claims agent, he was quick to declare that my coverage had exclusionary language, which essentially prevented Markel from honoring their stated claim of coverage. If Markel is offered through your bank or by anyone, proceed with caution as they are essentially perpetrating a scam.

Another D.R. Horton company that provides negligent and incompetent service. An outdated website that is not helpful. Over-the-phone representatives who cannot do any work "over the phone." Contact information that is not accurate. This company made it very difficult to cancel my policy, which is not acceptable. They are out-of-touch with reality. A simple search will identify other companies that offer better insurance policies. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Do not use this company. I had to pay a deposit based on the previous year's volume and spent the year finalizing my outstanding jobs so I could retire. As I knew the volume was half of what was estimated from previous years, I expected a return of the unearned premium after the annual audit. However, they say it is non-refundable. So, in order to stay insured and after explaining to their underwriters that I was retiring and my volume would not be as high as previous years, I had to pay the deposit. What a scam! I seriously doubt they would honor a claim, as they have exhibited dishonest and deceitful business practices to me.

I bought their insurance through velosurance for my bike. I had the worst experience ever. They have rigged their policies such that customer won't ever get their coverage

Erin and markel are horrible thieves. They take your money and are great until you have a claim. Then it’s crickets. They not only refuse payment but also won’t respond or communicate in any way. They hope you go away but they also have their attorneys ready so you have to spend more than it’s worth even though it’s black and white. Thanks erinn

We complained we were paying more insurance than payroll we had one part-time employee a few times a week as secretary. They charged us because she was a bus driver a higher rate even though we did not even use the bus all year, then after an audit and paying them 350 every month for nothing their auditor said we owed 750 more dollars. Worst thieves ever, they bury you in paperwork, so you can't figure out what they're actually charging you for. Their only statement of charges does not explain charges they just show billing.

Our client placed a claim on their commercial property's HVAC in early June. After 3 visits from claims adjusters (but not their Markel representative), they were told in late August that the claim was denied. HVAC issues for businesses cause extreme profit loss. It took 2 months and 3 weeks in Georgia's summer weather to be informed.. this is ridiculous. We could have worked with them on payments and replaced it immediately had they been informed. Instead, everyone thought the process was moving in the right direction since no feedback was offered. I would not recommend this insurance company.

We sold the business almost 5 months ago, however we continue to receive billing statements. Stop wasting our time and cancel the policies!

An excellent insurance company the customer service representatives are just the nicest people. Insurance is needed all over the 50 state areas of the USA and responsible driving is the best feeling on earth. Knowing your covered by Deerfield Isurance well that's priceless. Deerfield Insurance is not just an Insurance company it's a friendship from start to finish there rate plans are some of the lowest in the country and though Deerfield Insurance can get a bit pricey there coverage is Incredibly different than these other major companys who just want your dollar and never quality coverage that truly cover it all without any cheap run arounds in case you or someone else become the victim of an accident. what are you waiting for call them and see for yourself how there coverage is unlike any other Insurance company left today! I called and I am covered!
