Last week had roof wind damage which clearly showing areas at the back of the house almost the whole roof, filed a claim through selective which they truly are selective on how to handle claims, the adjuster Kenneth jones said they will send latternow ( a company that inspect roofing) and used the information from solo that company without second opinion and said this is not covered because of three improperly installed shingles on the front of the house and said the wind damage in the back is less than the deductible which means patching it while they proved the whole replacement of the roof back in 2017 but because of financial issues I’ve patched it back then and only got the endorsement check for the repair not the full amount for new roof. This company has taken advantage of me not speaking good English nor have knowledge of how to get them to pay for what they should cover, filling a complaint is all I can do now and the house may start leaking I understand the pandemic issue and they may not make profits but I’m in the pandemic too and have been paying my payment on time without any delays I think they should know that I’ve been paying insurance to cover such damage not to hire a company that go against me when I’m must vulnerable

We have been using them since October for a workman's comp claim through his employer so it's not our choice. More than a few times the checks have just stopped. When the checks come they usually show up in the middle of the week. They do not offer direct deposit for payments. More than a few times the checks have just stopped coming. When they do we have to wait 2 weeks from when the check was issued to see if it shows up and if it doesn't they have to cancel it and remail it. They claim that they are automatically generated and sent out which if that's the case they should arrive at the same time approximately each week. Our rent is due on Friday the check from last week never showed up and now we are questioning If the one for this week will show up. Communication is very lacking unless you contact a supervisor.

Horrible to work with on a claim and will argue about everything. Does not pay out on any home claim. The adjuster sat and argued with the contractor and basically waster my time and his. As soon as he got out of his vehicle he was stating that he will not pay this claim out that he was just here to do his due diligence.

Wow I’m going through the same thing right now. They don’t want to pay anything and we living in mold conditions after the IRA hurricane impacted North Jersey. Be aware and read your flood policy carefully . These people a legal crooks!!!

I just filed my first ever hoi claim and I was terrified. My first call was NOT a great experience. I was disappointed and more stressed! But I called back and everyone since has been excellent. I emailed about my negative experience and the very next day I had two managers reach out to me. They were very kind and helpful and now I know I just got a bad seed on a bad day. It happens. But many other company representatives have more than made up for it. I feel confident in Selective insurance now and my stress has been greatly reduced! I’ll post again after my claim has been processed! I feel confident I’ll be just as happy when it’s all over! ??

Awful experience with MY insurance. My Adjuster Jennifer Seabrook was very unprofessional. Her Supervisor John Tobin wasn’t helpful either . My car has been completed for over a week, I’ve been in a rental for 16 plus days all because they didn’t overnight check. Waited 10 days to get appraisal for 1 part due a brand new vehicle. I wouldn’t recommend this insurance to anyone Even dealership complained to me how unprofessional adjuster was

Was with them for 6 years with a bundled home and auto policy with 3 cars and a business truck. Never educated me, never checked to reduce rates. When I bought my home they were the insurers. I didn’t ask questions because I assumed they were okay. My daughter had an accident where she and the other driver were considered both at fault. No injuries, no citations nothing. My daughters car was totaled. They did not tell me my rates were going up, they waited until renewal time. Got my bill and was looking at a new rate of over $500 a month. Went out the next day, got new and better coverage for house and autos and $150 less a month. Now you take that for what it’s worth.

Absolutely a nightmare to deal with. Had underwriter tell us we needed KICK PLATES and other railings or they would not insure us. We questioned the kick plates and did put up extra railings where needed. Found out underwriter did not know the correct terminology and meant we needed Toe backers/toe stops on the steps. BIG DIFFERENCE. Had information wrong, sq footage of home wrong, heating wrong, size of garage wrong, singles wrong, and many other things. When we talked with the underwriter directly, Lisa, she got upset that we corrected her and let her know they were toe backers or toe stops on steps not kick plates for doors that she was talking about and she got upset. After that she decided that we needed to fix many other things and kept coming up with additional things that she was going to charge us for that were NOT on the list that the inspector did. The inspector had many, many erros, but she was clearly going out of her way to try to come up with things since she was corrected on her terminology and doing this out of spite now. We tried to contact them directly to discuss this with a supervisor and got the RUNAROUND of a lifetime. They refused to call us back for many many phone messge

I have used Selective for home insurance and was a little indifferent about my experience. Easy application process, extremely competitive rate, less than desirable customer service and resolutions though. My home suffered a huge loss after a storm. Initially, my selective rep was completely unavailable for the first week. I understand they may have been swamped after the storm but I felt ignored and a little unimportant to them. It took over a year and a half to settle payment but they were generous and fair when they did settle. The time it took was terribly unreasonable to me but in the end, everything lost was compensated for and the home was able to be rebuilt back to its pre storm conditions.
