This company picked up our business after Church Mutual dropped us for no apparent reason, albeit at a steep premium. They also required us to spend a significant amount of money on cutting down trees and installing a fire warning system. Moreover, they only offered us a $10,000 deductible, which they claimed would be reduced once we installed the fire warning system. However, we were not informed that the reduction in deductible would result in an increase in premium.
When we discussed this issue with their agent, Longley Insurance Agency, they seemed indignant at the suggestion that we might have been misled. At the time of renewal, our premium was increased. We received a quote from an agent for Erie Insurance which provided a 20% reduction in premium and a deductible of only $1,000 compared to the $10,000 deductible offered by Selective. Consequently, we canceled the policy 11 days after renewal, and Selective charged us 10% of the policy premium, amounting to $791, over the prorated amount of $266.
It is advisable to be cautious with this company, as their practices could be financially detrimental.

Be careful - they will steal from you. Selective was the only company I had access to a specific bank account. More than $500 was illegally withdrawn before I realized what had happened. When I reached their call center to explain the issue, their "lead" said they would look into it and return my call. No surprise, but I was ignored by them. You would be unwise to trust them with your personal information.

This is by far the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with in my life. They WILL NOT pay out claims. We had major hail damage 3 years ago and had several estimates to get repaired. Selective sends their guy out - says nope not related to this storm. W T F?? Then last year 1 month after open heart surgery one of my basement walls collapsed. What does Selective do in our desperate time of need - DENIED. Says that our house (Which is in great shape and 100 years old) was to blame. That shifting dirt cause the collapse as well as the old building material from when they built the house in 1906!! So they did not cover one red cent to replace a foundation wall collapse!!! What are they here for?!?! By far the absolute worst insurance company EVER

I am a customer with a policy covering multiple rental properties, which I thought would make me a valued customer. However, I found Ms. Capone's rude attitude and lack of customer service disheartening when trying to file a claim. She was cold and dismissive, as if I was disturbing her. While I could understand a claim being denied, her matter-of-fact and curt attitude was unacceptable. I will definitely look to take my business elsewhere, where there is better customer service.
Selective is a nightmare to deal with in every way. I have had insurance with them for a decade with no claims. I filed a hail claim last summer which they denied based on drone photos they took. They don't even send an adjuster; they send a drone pilot. Following this, I had roofers who are also lawyers submit a new estimate, and Selective changed their stance, suddenly agreeing that there was hail damage. The entire process was a nightmare. They are disorganized internally and still have not paid my roofers in full six months later.
I recently purchased a second home and chose Selective because they offered the lowest price, a decision I now regret and plan to rectify by switching providers. They employ a third-party company to require clients to conduct their own virtual home inspection. Five days after I completed the inspection, they canceled my policy on the grounds of an incomplete inspection—despite its completion. My policy has since been reinstated due to their mistake, but they "refunded" my premium, which I have yet to receive.

I am losing my patience with Selective Insurance Company CEO John Marciano, who thinks he will get away with scamming me. I filed an insurance claim and submitted substantial documentation to prove my claim. Yet, management used Sulema Medrano to play games with my claim. Sulema repeatedly set false expectations, making me believe that if I just submitted one more document, she would expedite my claim payment. Most unscrupulously, Sulema convinced me to attend an Examination Under Oath (EUO) shortly after my intensive care hospitalization, then claimed she would send a request for documents that I showed during the EUO. Instead, she blocked my calls and never sent the email.
The parties think I will back down from being scammed, but I absolutely have not forgotten, nor do I have any intention of backing down until my claim is fairly resolved. The management team lied, claiming I harassed them when in reality, I was an inpatient in intensive care due to seizures during cancer surgery while CEO John paid Sulema to harass and prey on me. They were fully aware of my delicate health, yet they told endless lies, claiming that I needed to submit one more piece of never-ending documentation in order to settle my claim.
I have irrefutable recorded calls that prove I pleaded with Sulema not to set false expectations each time she baited me. John is fully aware of my professional attempts to resolve my insurance claim. Yet, he played the victim once my support network reached their breaking point. Carl Walton also lied, claiming that he felt harassed after he drove me to my breaking point with never-ending false expectations. The parties have yet to accept an inkling of responsibility for their contributions to this matter. Instead, they used an unscrupulous representative, Sulema, to dig them into deeper legal troubles.
No matter how much time goes by, I will never stop seeking accountability until my claim has been resolved respectfully and fairly. John never told the courts the truth about how I did everything Sulema asked of me and how cruel she was to harass me during my cancer surgery. Nor have the parties told the courts that I pleaded with them for basic humanity, particularly around the time that my 22-year-old sister passed away. Instead, the parties left out critical information during a court hearing where they tried to use a restraining order to thwart the claims process.
The parties also knew that I had COVID during the hearing but fought vehemently against my postponement request, which I absolutely intend on appealing. I will never stop protesting against Selective CEO John until he is exposed for how he allowed Chatagnier Red and Carl Walton to emotionally abuse me. I also intend on taking legal action against Dentons because Sulema used her employer, Dentons, to take advantage of the entire situation.
The parties can keep testing my limits until they realize that you simply cannot get away with scamming customers. Tell the truth and stop playing the victim as if you did not antagonize and provoke me. You took my money for many years, then scammed me with never-ending false expectations to resolve my insurance claim, and now you've twisted the facts.
You outright refused to tell the courts about critical things, such as how you thought it was funny to harass me when you saw me as vulnerable, recovering from my intensive care hospitalization. I will also file complaints with the judicial branch for playing discretionary games, ignoring my COVID postponement request, and allowing you to tell so many lies because you thought you could use a court order to get out of paying my insurance claim.
What happens when you realize your greed and unscrupulous practices have pushed consumers to their ultimate breaking point? The recorded calls will be made public so consumers can hear the evidence that you manipulated the courts into believing should not be heard.

45 years with Selective, no issues until I had two accidents, one at fault, in the last three years and they dropped my insurance. This company takes your money, you have a problem and that's it. Stay away from them as they don't care about anything other than getting your money!

A Selective insured driver hit us. The lack of communication is stunning. No communication from the adjuster, only one email with rental information 7 days after the accident (but that had to be prompted by our Erie agent). We had to get an attorney to get anyone to call us back. I hope to never do business with them again.

These folks acted with zero urgency on my small business claim. However, they're more than happy to take scheduled payments month after month. If I ran my business like they run their insurance company, I wouldn't have a need for small business insurance because I'd be closed already. They've got us at a disadvantage, and they know it... and they act accordingly.

We received our homeowner's insurance premium bill. It went from an annual cost of $1,400 to $5,775. That's an increase of over 412%. We live in the same house as last year and have submitted no claims. Even if they are trying to exit our market (we live in Iowa), that's an exorbitant amount to increase the premium by.

I was put in charge of a friend's estate when a policy cancellation notice arrived during the sale of the home. It is my understanding that the homeowner's policy never had a claim in 70 years. I requested the policy to be extended for 30 days past the cancellation notice, so the home would be covered during the sale. However, the answer was no. Keep this in mind when you have to handle the loss of a loved one and an insurance company that puts itself above a multi-decade trusting policyholder.

This is the worst insurance company I have ever had to deal with. They had a middle-man company called Insurance Brokers of Minnesota, which was the worst of all. The lady there, named Ariana, is extremely unprofessional, and she is not to be trusted. Kevin Vanderbilt is the owner. He never answers the phone and he just follows Ariana's lead as if she's the boss. Do not trust these people; they will take advantage of you.

Had an accident in December and was assigned an Adjuster named Angelina DeJordy. I've tried calling/emailing her since she was assigned and haven't heard back. I've also tried to reach another Adjuster on her team, and my call goes straight to her voicemail. Meanwhile, my car is wrecked.

I'm going through the same thing right now but I settled on a price for my totalled vehicle with a 2nd claims person still waiting on a check going on a month from the accident. First claims person I spoke to said I would be reimbursed for rental car even if I didn't use it if would cover my deductible at least up to $1500 now the 3rd adjusted is saying no they don't do that. Dealing with 3 different people and no one in this company knows what the other is doing.
