When Cardinal Financial started, it set out with the intention of creating a better mortgage experience. It wanted to reimagine and modernize the way home loans are obtained by bringing increased transparency, simplicity, and speed into an industry that has oftentimes lacked all three. My wife found this company on the internet. Reached out to them, we are interested in buying a home after we sold our current home. Contact made 5.2.22, someone named Adam Bartling that day. Was sent the online application, which we couldn't access. Called several time finally was sent a PDF completed it. 5.8.22 got a pre approved letter and then was asked to put down $19k with our VA loan. That same day, my wife tells this guy we were going to go with another lender. 5.18.22 starting at 6:48 pm we start getting harassing text from this Adam Bartling. I call him and inform him that on 5.8.22 it had been communicated that we were going with another lender. I was told to "f#@! off". Then shortly afterward was sent an email explaining again what was explained in text to my wife. NO PROFESSIONALISM AT ALL. This guy makes us Veterans look bad. Shameful!!

DO NOT LET THIS COMPANY HANDLE YOUR LOAN. THEY ARE THE WORST. THEY HAVE MISHANDLED THE FUNDS IN .Y ESCROW ACCOUNT AT LEAST 3X WITHIN THE YEAR THAT I'VE BEEN W/ THEM AND STILL HAVEN'T FIXED THE ISSUE. THEY ARE INCAPABLE OF HANDLING LOANS WITHOUT MASSIVE ERRORS AND COUNTLESS MISTAKES ON THEIR PART. MY MUD TAXES WERE PAID ALMOST 6 MONTHS LATE BC OF THIS COMPANY'S MISHANDLING. I AM STILL TRYING TO GET THE FUNDS MISSING FROM MY ESCROW ACCOUNT IN JANURARY, IT'S MAY AND MY ISSUES STILL HAVEN'T BEEN RESOLVED. EVEN IF YOUR BUILDER OFFERS LENDER CREDITS FOR GOING W/ CARSINAL FINANCIAL DON'T DO IT. FIND ANOTHER COMPANY TO HANDLE YOUR LOAN OR YOU YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Cardinal approved a refinancing on my house in early March 2022 and the night before I was to sign the actual loan documents, I reviewed them and found they had sneaked in two poison pill clauses not previously seen in their disclosures. One clause allowed them to take over my trust as soon as I died. This clause has been used by banks to steal billions from the estates of deceased persons including one very well publicized case involving JP Morgan charging an estate for huge legal bills without the knowledge of beneficiaries and putting a much larger mortgage on the house benefiting JP Morgan. The other clause was "Without Recourse" which means I could not sue Cardinal if they screwed up, defrauded me or I found the contract violated the law. Cardinal also failed to put in the contract what was promised to me in emails-that I could recast the loan at any time with no charge. Without this promise being in the contract, it was not enforceable and a fraudulent empty promise. I told Cardinal I would not sign the contract until all the above items were corrected but they refused claiming their slimy business practices were the industry standard. I then refused to sign this immoral and probably illegal contract.

Great process from start to finish. My refinance was in late December, so there was a little bit of lag time, but definitely one of the easiest refinances I have done. My loan officer, Jonathan Puente, was great at communicating, keeping me informed about the process and requirements needed. I would definitely recommend.

We worked with a really great mortgage broker at Cardinal Financial. The underwriting staff however was a nightmare. We will look elsewhere for our next loan.

Loan product: Cashout Refi. Jose Mendez-Tovar went ABOVE and BEYOND the scope of his responsibilities (within regulatory requirements) to ensure the process would have the expected outcome. There are several words to describe Jose (not all-inclusive): Honest, trustworthy, personable, empathetic, professional, and knowledgeable. I had several prospects vying for my business. I presented competing offers to Cardinal Financial, and they beat those offers. Of course, I know this may not be the likely outcome for all cases -- I'm just grateful that it was my outcome. It displayed the company's dedication and commitment to providing clients with a great product. He was forthcoming with updates. Questions or concerns I brought to his attention were acknowledged and addressed promptly. Several issues arose that delayed the process significantly (contractor delays, title issues, and unexpected family matters). I felt the weight and stress of it all. I wanted to discontinue the process. Jose and Manny Alvarado reassured me--through action--they would do their best to move things forward. This level of openness and honesty forged a strong rapport amongst us.

Terrible. Been in the refi process since 2/22/22 and have a rate lock expiring in one week. No communication from loan officer or manager since a week ago after send multiple texts and calling. Still in underwriting? My home purchase experience with another lender was far better and quicker.I provided all docs immediately when requested so this isn’t a hang up on my end. They were so quick in the beginning to get everything from me but have since gone silent.

My husband and I refinanced with your company in September 2021. At that time we expressed interest in setting up bi-monthly payments. We were given the paper work to fill out before our first payment date and told we needed to make a payment to put us "ahead".
We did all those things but were told afterwards that our loan was being bought out and that someone would contact us when everything was finalized. NO ONE ever did.
We waited a few months, and still nothing. My husband reached out again in February and was.yold they didn't have any of the paperwork we submitted and would have to submit it again. We did that and again heard NOTHING.
We had to reach out again today find out what was going on and we're told we were all set as long as we could make a full payment by March 25th. Then we could start our bimonthly payments on April 4th.
We explained multiple times that we have already may and ahead of schedule payment, but were told that no longer applies because our paperwork doesn't show up until February.
We are appalled by lack of customer service with Cardinal. We did our due diligence but it is NOT be honored. We also should not have to continue to reach out to your company to find out the status of these situations. Cardinal dropped the ball when they allowed our loan to be bought up and is doing nothing to rectify the situation.
Your company had no problem calling us multiple times during the day and sending out multiple emails to get us to refinance, but I can't believe this is how you treat your customers.

It doesn't seem to be that way. The only way they can have positive reviews is by paying someone to flood this with fake positive reviews. Read the 1-2 star reviews. That is where the true can be found.
