When Cardinal Financial started, it set out with the intention of creating a better mortgage experience. It wanted to reimagine and modernize the way home loans are obtained by bringing increased transparency, simplicity, and speed into an industry that has oftentimes lacked all three. All around outstanding experience with cardinal financial. The communications and responses were timely, and took half the time of my CA. refinance just 30 days prior. Wish I had known about Cardinal Financial before. Thank you

I received a letter with an offer to refinance my mortgage at a fixed rate. I called them and told them I had been unable to refinance because there are three houses on my property and they said it was not a problem. I completed many forms and uploaded all of my documentation. They told me the loan was approved and took a payment of $500 for an assessment. Then they called me back and said, "OOOPS, we goofed - we can't do a mortgage for a property with multiple houses on it!" The assessment payment was refunded, but I am still stuck with a variable rate loan whose rate is guaranteed to increase every single year. This is false advertising and bait and switch! It is unethical and immoral to lead people to think they have found relief and then pull the rug out from under them! This system will not let me submit a review without at least one star, but I genuinely rate Cardinal Financial zero stars, or better yet minus 100 stars. Do not do business with this company, they are deceitful and unethical.

You've been warned - do not waste your time with Cardinal! We started a loan with them that has now been delayed four times. Due to the delays we lost our spot for a construction company to rebuild our deck, interest rates have gone up. We have started working with Bank of America instead, and even though we started with them two months later, they are already caught up and have a closing date set.
With Cardinal there is ZERO updates on status, just unannounced closing date changes in their Octane system and no communication whatsoever as to the reason. We provided every single piece of documentation requested within 24 hours (often within the hour) of it being requested, so there is absolutely no reason from our point of view why this should continue to be pushed out.
I suspect they are gaming us for more $ in interest and fees, much as others have speculated. Awful, awful company to deal with.

I was sent a letter in February stating that my mortgage would increase almost $700 a month. The reason given was that my property taxes had increased. I went to the tax assessors office and I was given several documents showing that the issue had been fixed and I submitted the documents to my lender. I never received a response, so I begin to call the company around the end of February. They assured me the issue would be fixed and my payment would return to normal by the 15th of March. It never changed so I called again I was then told by the 22nd and absolutely nothing changed. Contacted the company for the 3rd time and was told it’ll be fixed by 29th and once again absolutely nothing. I called again and spoke with the manager and she told me not to make the mortgage payment because everything would be back to normal by the 15th of April. She also said I would receive an email of the change and guess what.... absolutely nothing once again!!!!!! This is the most unreliable and unprofessional company that I have ever did business with.

I recommend not going anywhere near this company. Also, do not pay attention to Cardinal's response concerning negative reviews. Their consumer advocacy department is not interested in fixing any issue. Our refinance attempt was an absolute nightmare. It should have been a dream for Cardinal, we have great credit, high income, assets, and a good LTV. Through numerous extensions, document requests, and little communication, we finally received a closing date when we threatened to walk away from this process. The loan was closed on January 10th. The notary told us the loan should fund within 3 to 5 days. Eighteen days later, we received a letter from our previous mortgage company stating we were late on our payments. We called Cardinal customer service who could only tell us they showed no open file or loan number for us. This was even after we had closed the loan. After a dozen additional calls and emails to Cardinal, we spoke to a loan manager. His only comment was that there was a problem with the closing and the loan was not funded. He had no idea why and did not care that no one from Cardinal bothered to contact us and let us know the loan did not fund. We immediately made our payments to our previous mortgage holder, but the damage was done. With one late payment on our mortgage, our credit went from excellent to fair. We have engaged an attorney and are discussing options. In the end, we walked away from Cardinal with no loan and damaged credit.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I have no idea how this company has a 4.5 rating. I came to this site to see if Cardinal Financial was in fact a scam operation. I applied in January, and was told to not make the next month's payment. I didn't, but ended up getting a late payment fee from my current lender because they didn't pay and didn't tell me. Here it is 3 months later still nothing. They keep telling me to sign extensions but it is pointless because they don't process anything. I called them today and told them to cancel my application and purge my records. I doubt they will purge them, for all I know they just sell my private financial data to another scam operation.

Worst customer service EVER!!! Have been helping a client with a loss mitigation process for months now and this company is the worst at providing updates. We are asked to submit the same documents over and over to multiple channels with this company and they continue to ask us for the same items we keep sending them. I've been hung up on multiple times by their agents at this company. When asked to speak directly to the single contact we have on the documents we keep getting we can't get through to him - Mr. Timothy Henke. The people who answer the phone put you on hold for long periods of time and then tell you they can't help you. When asked to speak to the person whom the documents say can help us, they won't get us to him. This process and company have been the most frustrating and irritating I've ever encountered. I would not recommend working with this company ever if this is how they treat people. I had to give them a star to submit this review - but I would have selected 0 stars!!!

I started a refinance in mid-December 2020. I am still waiting to get this closed. I believe at this point I have signed around 5 extensions. The last one (because I caught it) said that I was being charged a fee to extend based on my request. I didn't request anything other than getting this completed. I also noticed the fees are higher than expected. Feels very misleading. I have turned around all documents within a day or two that they have asked for. None of this has been a delay on my part and now I am being charged? This is ridiculous. I have excellent credit. There is no reason this should have been delayed this long. Now interest rates have increased and can't really go anywhere else. So I am just not going to refinance. Terrible. If I continue with my current mortgage it will end up costing me thousands of dollars in the long run but at this point I don't trust them and I am not giving them any of my hard earned money.

Cardinal was as helpful as they could be given the latest hoops all lenders have to jump through since 2008. Aside from that we like the product and would recommend it to others.

It doesn't seem to be that way. The only way they can have positive reviews is by paying someone to flood this with fake positive reviews. Read the 1-2 star reviews. That is where the true can be found.
