I have been a long-time customer of this company. Two weeks ago, my car was totaled. I'm going into week two, just had my rental car benefits end. I'm still financially responsible for a totaled car because it hasn't been paid off yet, and I'm still paying for a totaled car on my policy. The rental car was only issued for four days. Now I'm being told the lender is holding up the process and there's nothing that can be done to help me but "hopefully, it is resolved in the next week or so." I cannot wait to be done with this situation so that I can take my business elsewhere. My car has been picked up from my possession by the company that California Casualty sent, but I'm still financially responsible for it. I have to call the lender, the insurance company, and the third-party company that picked up my car, and every person has a different answer for the reason this is stalled. Dealing with a total loss is stressful enough, having to deal with the runaround has made it even more stressful. I should have read reviews before going with this insurance company.

I was with the company for nine years! I had car and home insurance with them. They made payments very difficult, not having an app or an easy-to-use payment function on their website. They also promised all sorts of discounts, but when you submitted them, they always found a reason not to accept it. After nine years, I missed one payment. No courtesy call, but instead, they cancelled my insurance! When trying to sign back up, they rejected my house because my roof is more than twenty years old. Their reasoning: fire hazard. Yet, I live in a no fire hazard severity zone according to the official Cal Fire map, per government code 51178.

Calif. Casualty Insurance has been a terrific company for my family and me. I've had them for nearly 30 years, and they have insured my children, their spouses, and now my grandchildren. Every time I've needed them, from an accident repair to roadside assistance, customer service has been top-notch, and my issues have been resolved without a hitch. I haven't paid a dime. I am very pleased with their service and hope to continue for years to come.

This is by far the worst insurance I have ever dealt with because the communication is poor at best. I made a claim on Sunday, and nobody ever answers or emails back. You have to go through customer service and ask for a transfer to even speak to a claims adjuster. They are towing my car to a completely different state and discussing totaling it over a cracked radiator. My vehicle's value should far exceed the small repair. Nobody will give me a reason or even acknowledge my questions. I have been shopping for another company because it's been a hassle anytime I have to reach out.

Worst insurance ever! I had my truck stolen back in October 2023, so I filed a claim. In November 2023, my truck was found, and the worst adjuster was assigned to my case. He fails to communicate anything with me despite multiple phone calls and emails sent to him, both by myself and my body shop. He has failed to follow up with us. We have also left multiple voicemails for his manager, and she too has never reached out to us, which is so unprofessional. It's been 5 months, and my truck has just been sitting in the body shop, collecting dust due to their lack of communication and response. I have officially filed a complaint with the California Department of Insurance and initiated a DOI. There goes over 10 years of being a loyal consumer.

Had California Casualty for 15+ years, including home or rental insurance, and never had a problem. During that time, only had 2 accidents, and their handling of those claims went without a problem. When I have shopped around, no one can beat their premium.

Run, don't walk, from this company. Don't even think about it. It takes over an hour to get a hold of an agent on the phone, and when you finally do, and get transferred to a voicemail, adjusters will not call you back. We have been paying auto insurance to this company and making payments to the bank on a very expensive totaled car for over three months without any kind of resolution. I don't know what has happened to this company, but it is absolutely terrible. Do not even think about signing on with this company to save a couple of dollars a month. It is not worth it.

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They don't return phone calls and basically give you the run-around when someone does answer. Why should it take 30 days to review an estimate?

Months after filing a claim for water damage, I still haven’t heard from my adjuster. I have left several messages via phone and email. I even called her supervisor and left a message. Still no call from them. Meanwhile, I am out $7,000 for expenses. What am I paying insurance premiums for? I will be looking for a new insurance company over my thanksgiving break!

I have been with this company when they were associated with the firefighter association and this company was amazing. Over the years up until recently they are the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. The customer service reps are rude when you call, when someone hit my sons car, it took almost 7 months for them to even do anything. The adjusters don’t return calls and you are left in limbo. If you are looking at this company for insurance, take it from me and run, fast!

California Casualty Insurance is one of the worst insurance companies to deal with. If they had a rating of (negative) they would get that rating. I've had them from the time I bought the property. 2 issues came up and we had to go through them for a claim. Both according to the letter were water damage. Total of both claims was 13k in total. I paid more for the premium than what was paid out. Now they sent a letter of non renewal. The first claim was due to water damage and mold from leak on roof. Second claim was due to water damage due to leak from a bathroom located on the second floor and because of that damaged the 1st floor laundry room was damaged too. I am so displeased with the way this insurance company handles the claims. They have poor customer service, uneducated field advisors that are not familiar with the property. They just make assumptions and quick to deny claims or low ball the consumer. Once they do that, quick to send out a notice of non-renewal. They get a rating of negative 10.

Horrible they expect me to pay up front for deductible when I was not at fault and they do not pay for a comparable car to rent when mine is being fixed. I have been waiting 6 months for my car to be repaired and now California Casualty expects me to pay out money I don't have. They treat their customers badly. Police firefighters and teachers BEWARE

I've been an auto insurance member of California Casualty for 20 years! Last year I called for a home owners insurance quote. The person selling me the quote gave me numbers that were not better than what I already paid. I misunderstood the process and allowed the process to continue. When I realized I did not want the home owners insurance I cancelled the home inspection. The cancelled home inspection means the policy was not valid. However, they still wanted to charge me for 2 months of insurance, even after saying the policy was not valid. They sent me to collections and refused to forgive the 200 bucks they say I owed for a non valid policy. 20 years 4 cars and an average of about 300 dollars a month I pay them and this is the hill they are choosing to die on. I canceled my insurance with them within 2 hours of getting off the phone with them. I will never recommend them to anyone.
