Farm Bureau Insurance

We have been a customer for almost 18 years and now that we file a claim thier adjuster says we didn't have enough damage for a claim and guess what another storm last Friday and try to file a claim and we are waiting weeks to get an adjuster again that will say not enough damage for a claim!!

My father had an IRA through them. When he passed away, I was the beneficiary and reached out to them to roll it over. It took me over four months to receive my money and be able to roll the IRA over to another fund. This company is incompetent and I suspect them to be fraudulent. They take your money and then do not release it when requested. All I received from them was evasion and warnings that they were going to withhold part of the money. They are unprincipled and deserve to be shut down. I have reported them to the State of Michigan for their unprofessional conduct and withholding money that is not theirs. Please do not conduct any business with this company. They are dishonest and liars.

They are cheap. Sold one car. Instead of sending me a check for reimbursement, they keep your money and apply it as a credit five months later. Also, they entered an amount of $308 over for car insurance. It came out of my account. I've been waiting weeks for the repayment check. Horrible place.

My original agent informed me that their mobile app was being discontinued and advised me not to use it, so I followed his instruction and did not use it. A year passes and I was charged an extra $300 on my monthly payment. When I called to inquire why, they said it was because I hadn't used the app, and they reviewed my driving history, leading to an increase in my monthly payment. However, I had informed them about my driving record the previous year. In attempting to resolve the issue or receive reimbursement, they seemed indifferent and evasive. It felt as though they were implying the fault was entirely mine. I repeatedly called my agent, but he never answered. My concerns were constantly redirected to different agents.

After working with a northern agent for over 10 years, I can say that they have provided the best customer care, claims handling, and policy coverage possible to exceed market standards. Maybe try a northern agency for the best service!

If you want an insurance company that puts you last and does its best to prove you wrong when you file a claim, these are your people. Possibly the worst insurance company I've ever dealt with. A nightmare.
Their adjusters, like Keith, will cause damage to the insured person's home, and it will be supported by their 'leadership'.
The one star is for Brenda Post. The experience with this team helped me understand why people switch insurance companies and have nightmare stories to tell after dealing with them.
Would not recommend. Would recommend looking for a different company.

Zack Martin is just a name on the door. Just like any other agent, they're salespeople who can't actually help with anything.

Bad business practices

Farm Bureau has been the most difficult insurance company to deal with. My elderly dad was reassigned to an agent after the agent my dad chose left Farm Bureau. He made comments that let us know he wasn't a good fit for us. I spoke to and wrote to the home office multiple times asking to be reassigned. Farm Bureau ignored all of my requests. We were not able to change agents.
When my father passed, it took almost 3 months and multiple contacts with the home office to cash in a life insurance policy. The auto insurance and house insurance were cancelled. When I tried to maintain a house policy with Farm Bureau, the customer service representative didn't help me in time to get a policy before the cancellation. I contacted Farm Bureau over 2 weeks before the policy expired. By 3:00 on the day it expired, I realized Farm Bureau wasn't going to help me. I had to have another company write a policy.

I cancelled all of my policies with Farm Bureau. This is a shame. As a child, everyone in my family and all of my extended family had Farm Bureau. My dad and uncle died in their 90s and were loyal to Farm Bureau to their deaths. After checking with my childhood friends, all of them had had Farm Bureau, and so did their extended families. We had an agent that cared about his customers. The company does not continue that tradition today.

Farm Bureau in Sturgis, MI, is disappointing; they won’t cover a tree that fell during a high-wind storm or fix my fence damaged by the fallen tree. I’ve been with them for over 35 years, and their unwillingness to help is frustrating. It's time to leave them; they don't deserve even one star.

Don't even consider this company if you bought an older automobile and purchased full coverage insurance. I bought a 2009 automobile in extra fine condition, an automobile known for a very long life. I experienced hail damage, quite a bit on its near-perfect body. This arrogant company offered to buy it from me or total it, which means they would drop my collision insurance. They refused to fix it. I do not want to part with it; it took a long time to find the car, so effectively I was left completely unsatisfied. Oh, did I mention I am a 50-year customer? Not 50 years old, but 50 years as a customer. You can clearly see that there is absolutely no customer loyalty. None. I currently have 4 vehicles insured by these so-called insurance people and my home. All subject to change. Stay away from these folks.

We've had a $150,000 life insurance policy with Farm Bureau for almost 40 years. We've never missed a payment. The check for the last payment was mailed, but they didn't receive it. My husband tried to explain that it was lost in the mail and showed them a copy of the check he wrote. Last year, he had a heart attack. He's fine now, and longevity into the 90s is common in his family on both sides, including those who have had heart attacks. Despite this, they closed our policy and refused to reinstate it under any circumstances. He's 67 years old. It feels like an insult! It seems as if they look for opportunities like this to terminate policies after years of payments. I do not recommend them at all.

I have been a customer of Farm Bureau Ins. for 10 years. This year, on 4/15/2024, when the renewal notice for my coverage appeared, I notified them on 4/30 that the medical coverage was incorrect. As directed, I texted my Medicare coverage documents. However, no correction appeared either online or by mail, and on 5/30/2024, they notified me that my payment was past due. I called, and they said they had found my documents and would be processing them, and that I would receive a new invoice. On 6/1, I had still not received an amount to pay by phone, online, or by text/email. On 6/2, they emailed me informing me that my policy would be cancelled if I didn't pay the "amount shown below" immediately. I promptly went to the website to pay by credit card, but the amount shown was incorrect. I then sent a check by mail immediately. On 6/3, I received an email stating that my policy had been cancelled. NOBODY SHOULD TO BUSINESS WITH THIS INCOMPETENT COMPANY.

Zero stars if I could. My car was totaled two months ago and I still do not have my auto loan paid off by farm bureau. I have called the adjuster and the woman helping the adjuster so many times, they never answer. They call back days later with an attitude. I have paid almost $300 in a rental car because they are taking so long. I’m switching insurance after this.

The adjuster did not give us anywhere near the money we needed to complete the repairs and will not budge off it. instead of a 1k deductible it is going to end up being about 2k and that is not acceptable to me.

Slow claim service. Home roof inspected 9.1.22. Denial decision 9.29.22. No adjuster contact during this period. This is a prime example of poor service. BBY of Michigan

JASON KELLER was my claims guy and I have never spoken to a more condescending rude person in my life! The one time I have a claim he talked to me like I was a criminal instead of help with the fact that my car was stolen. I have been a customer for years and will never go back to this company again. Horrible service you pay all this money for insurance just to be spoken down to by some claims loser who thinks he's a criminal justice lawyer.
