Mendota Insurance Company

Absolute worst insurance company ever. They purposely hang up the phone to make it impossible to file a claim when they are at fault. Their adjustor, Jhonda Wolfe, and supervisor, Christine Torres, hung up on me twice on recorded lines. Terrible!

I wish I could leave 0 stars. This is the worst experience I have ever had with car insurance. My auto insurance is set up on autopay, and they either run my card the day before or the day after, so they can collect a $30.00 returned check fee. I called, and the lady literally told me if I'm not happy, then I should go somewhere else. I asked for a supervisor and was told no one is available. This is the worst customer service I've ever had to deal with. Then, on top of everything, I also have to pay a convenience fee to even run my card. Do not get insurance through these people!

Scammers, I have been waiting for my claim check for three months, and it has not arrived. First, they sent me the check, and it did not arrive. I was able to contact them, and they canceled it and issued another one. They think I received the one they canceled, which I could not cash. In conclusion, the one they issued to me has not arrived, and that was a month and a half ago. No check sent by mail takes that long to arrive. I have been dealing with them about the claim for 3 months. I am going to sue; I am not going to sit idly by because of some scammers.

I spoke with seven different representatives, and the last woman at 4:15 PM on 07/12/24 was incredibly rude. She literally said that somehow it was my fault that the car was broken into. When I asked for a supervisor, she placed me on hold three times and finally decided at 4:25 PM that no supervisor was available. That was horrible customer service.

I called back on Monday, 07/15/24, at 9:30 AM and spoke with Lisa, a supervisor, who was just as rude. I asked her the reason for not reinstating my policy: was it due to the 11:59 PM deadline, or did they choose not to reinstate it? She stated that it was their choice not to do so, due to the claim, not because of a late payment.

I feel that I was blamed for making a claim within 29 days of having the vehicle, which I only had for about three days before it was totaled. It's unfair to me that all of this took place. I have no control over break-ins, etc. Mendota Insurance is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I've never had to file a claim or been a victim of anything like this, yet your customer service representatives made me feel like I was a criminal simply because I filed a claim. Is that not what I am supposed to do? Isn't that why we purchase insurance—to have protection no matter the day? It doesn't make sense.

Mendota's representatives and supervisors are very incompetent and have very little skill in dealing with customers who just require assistance. I should never have had to constantly contact the Texas Insurance Agency to complain, nor should I have had to write such a lengthy review, yet here we are. Granted, you may not even read it or correct the issue, and probably won't even reach out to me to retain a good customer, but I know that others will see and read this review. Reviews impact your business—this I know—when all you had to do was reinstate my policy. I hope that a CEO or someone in upper management reaches out to me to attempt to rectify this matter. Too bad you can't give zero stars. This place is ridiculous. One of their customers hit our truck while he was drunk and driving; thankfully, it wasn't too bad of a hit. However, Mendota would put us on hold for 15-20 minutes and then we would get sent to a voicemail box that no one ever answered. We had to file a claim through our own insurance and just hope they are able to get further than us.
