We immediately called to see what the issue was and were greeted with the rudest person I've ever spoken with.
Stay away from this joke of an establishment!

When I got home, I received a call from some guy at the credit union who was aggressively asking personal questions without any explanation. I finally asked, "Who are you, and why all the personal questions?" He wouldn't give his name. All he would say was that he is J.D. and that he would be blunt because that's all he knows, a code for being a jerk. He kept saying there were too many flags, questioning why I wanted the money, etc. I explained that it was for a late Christmas with my family and everyone was getting cash instead of gifts, and I needed $1,000 for two weeks of travel. He argued that Christmas was in December, not now, and it didn't make sense. He questioned why I wasn't giving checks instead of cash, and why I wasn't using a debit card instead of taking out cash.
This confrontation continued, and he mentioned that I order from Amazon and went through my checking accounts, etc. Clearly, he didn't believe me, and I didn't know what else to say. It seemed he was a fraud investigator who was very full of himself and his job. With this approach, you will be losing customers. You can get more information from someone by being polite and forthcoming rather than being overbearing and demanding. I was very disturbed to have someone be so intrusive, skeptical, personal, and unbelievably rude. I've been a client for about 35 years; go ask someone who works there. I'm looking for a new bank.

I provided my driver's license and passport page. The next day, I got an email saying they could not run my credit because I had a security freeze on it. I called and asked why they needed to run my credit if I was only opening a savings account. They said they needed to run it for verification purposes. I agreed as long as it was only a soft pull. After running my credit, they sent another email asking for a copy of my SS card and utility bill for proof of address. I called them once again and questioned why they needed these two things, according to their application which allowed for my passport page and driver's license as options:

My current address is accurately reflected on my license. After speaking to a manager, I could not get a clear understanding of why I was being singled out for all this information to open a savings account. I'm depositing money, not requesting it. I hope they are not scammers because they have all my information and I have nothing of theirs. I do not understand why they need a copy of my driver's license, my Social Security card, my passport, my credit report, and a utility bill to open a savings account. I'm not applying for a loan or a credit card; I'm depositing money into a savings account.
Connexus blatantly lied to me and told me the amount, $200,000, was too much to be sent via ACH. Well, that's not true, and that's how the funds were sent to them. Every other CD I have had, and there have been many, has always been returned to the original account via ACH.
The representative assured me the check was in the printer, would go out that day, and I would have it in a few days. All lies. And on top of that, it was sent via regular mail. So, instead of having my money in a day, it will be over two weeks. That's a substantial amount of money for me, and just think of the thousands of customers they are doing this to!
Not to mention the Feds just dropped rates, and CD rates are dropping with that!
Last year, I asked for my dividends to be sent to me... again, they did it by check. Well, that check was lost in the mail, and it showed up 6 months later, then had to be replaced. I was very ill at the time and didn't even notice until all that time had gone by.
Never again, Connexus, and I'll make sure to tell everyone how sleazy Connexus is!
