Continental Finance Reviews
What's Your Rating?
My main reason for this review is due to them unexpectedly blocking my card (and not unblocking it) although the account was not past due, was in good standing, and had plenty of available credit. Their stated reason for blocking the card was "excessive use." This "excessive use" occurred because our area (and much of the country) was in a declared state of emergency and facing a massive winter storm. I, along with many others, were stocking up on supplies ahead of the storm. But despite explaining this to them and confirming that the "excessive use" wasn't fraud but was indeed myself making the purchases, they insisted I had to wait twenty-four hours before I could use the card again. When I asked to speak to the department making this decision, that department wouldn't even take my call.
So, let me put this into perspective. No fraud confirmed, account in good standing, plenty of available credit, and a declared state of emergency with an impending natural disaster. Yet, even with knowing and acknowledging all this, they wouldn't unblock my account. Would you want to rely on this kind of credit card in an emergency?
Essentially, this company confirmed one very important thing to me. They are not a company you want to rely on at any level in an emergency, even with an account in good standing. Not only will they not help you, but they might even disable your account when you need it most. It goes without saying, I will not be using this or any other card issued by Celtic Bank (also known as Continental Finance Company) again.
Do not bother with this very questionable organization.
