Aflac

This company is a joke... they only want your money! when the agents came to visit my employer they made it sound like emergency time off medically, Dr's visits ect were covered. Well NOT TRUE.. they do not disclose there is a waiting period... so my emergency week off, having pneumonia, was not covered, but only 1 day! what a joke... Done with this company and spending my money with nothing in return.

This is regarding Group Life Disability which is the division my employer goes through for disability claims. My mom passed unexpectedly last June, and it left me absolutely devastated and unable to function. Now for the first short-term disability leave I dealt with The Hartford. I thought that would be the worst experience, but at least they took care of me eventually, it just took a while and pushing them.

It was less than a month later and I realized, with the holidays coming, I was not prepared. Marital issues due to all of the stuff piling up started in December and I had another nervous breakdown. At that point I either had to take care of my personal affairs or work again. I did not have energy for both.

Now by Aflacs standards all you have to prove is a medical condition and that it is making it impossible for you to do your job efficiently. I got information from my psychiatrist immediately and had them send paperwork in. The soonest I could be seen was on the 14 of December, I left work on the 5 and the day I actually got the info to FILE the claim was the 8. This got mixed up and my doctor put the start date as the 8. This is the technicality they are denying me on.

Now I have 4 diagnoses from the DSM-5 and I realize mental disabilities are not taken as seriously, but the paperwork I turned in stated very clearly I could not perform my job. My HR approved ADA paperwork in the meantime for the same diagnoses. I appealed the case with Aflac and they made me wait quite some time, no email or prior correspondence and I got a letter saying they denied me again final decision. I told them I would take them to court as they suggested per ERISA and that I have everything I need to prove they have made a poor decision. This prompted them to say "no wait we will open it back up to consider more information." Translation : we need a little more time to make sure we find out what technicality we actually need to find to deny you.

So a month+ later and I have been on them, I get another letter, again disrespectful as ever, no prior correspondence just saying now they are denying me again on the same grounds that the dates were off and from the 5 to the 8 I have no representation. No. My doctor spoke to them just before they sent this and clarified she had advised me to leave the beginning of that week on the 5. So just to make sure they said it is because my demeanor wasn't erratic when I saw my psychiatrist. I'm not going to go in there suicidal and screaming and being out of sorts. I'm there for help, not to cause an issue. So since my demeanor was even I am not mentally ill enough. My psychiatrist is an NP, their source was an RN. I do not know how this could be less professional.

You would think with the number of lawsuits this division has seen and lost on ERISA grounds that they would not want to keep receiving these reviews or be known as the company that does anything they can to deny a disability claim. I have a consultation with a civil lawyer who specializes in bad faith insurance claims and I am going to be that next lawsuit, and I will do whatever it takes to make Aflac pay me what I'm owed.

Dealing with AFLAC is a nightmare. The local sales person will sign people up and tell them it's easy to cancel, and then does nothing after getting their commission from the sign-up. I've been trying for 4 months now to cancel an employees policy and cannot get anyone from corporate to help and have mailed in the change with the statement each month. This is the fifth letter I've sent with no change or acknowledgment.

My husband learned he had blood cancer around April 1st of 2022. As the spouse, filing of claims has landed on my back along with everything else. I am so OVER this whole situation that I can't think straight. The handling of claims by AFLAC is nothing short of criminal and I can't wait to hear that someone files a major lawsuit and takes them to task. Things disappear on my portal, I upload the same document over and over and claims are denied for reasons that are totally unrelated to what I have filed for. Don't count on this insurance to do anything but make you crazy and deny you until you throw your hands up in the air and just walk away from the money due you. A one rating is being too generous but it's the lowest they let you give.

I filed an accident/hospital indemnity claim for a ruptured achilles. I had outpatient surgery. The claim only paid $325.00. I was totally shocked. I was told there was no direct cause of the ruptured achilles, therefore the claim was partially denied. The surgery was at a hospital but it was outpatient. That part of the claim was denied because I wasn't there 24 hours. I am considering cancelling my policy. AFLAC has screwed me out of much needed money. I am also off from work for 6 weeks.

THIS IS FOR ANYONE LOOKING TO PURCHASE AFLAC INSURANCE. FRAUDULENT COMPANY, PAID FOR YEARS AND WHEN I HAD A CLAIM THEY DENIED IT. NO ONE ON ONE REPRESENTATIVE SO YOU GET MULTIPLE DIFFERENT REASONS WHY YOUR CLAIM IS DENIED. I WORK IN HEALTHCARE AND EVEN THE STAFF STATED IT WAS COVERED UNDER THE TERMS THEY OUTLINED WHEN WE SIGNED UP. BUT THEN THEY COME BACK WITH ALL THESE EXCUSES. RIPOFF COMPANY, THERE IS NO PEACE OF MIND WITH THIS COMPANY. MY CORPORATE HOSPITAL HAS PULLED OUT OF AFLAC AS THEY HAVE NOT COVERED ANY OF THE CLAIMS FROM OUR MEDICAL STAFF FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS. WE ARE GOING WITH A NEW COMPANY IN 2023.

Worst transaction I have ever had with a company. I tried to purchase disability insurance and what a disaster. Listened to the agents sales pitch via phone call and decided to buy in. After getting all set up with my policies, the incredibly poor customer service, billing, and IT nightmares began. Set up auto pay and was sent an email on the first day saying payment would not process. Called my credit card company, who stated there was not an issue with my card and no transaction was seen on my credit card from aflac, My credit card company offered to make a 3 way call to aflac to figure out the issue. Called the agent who sold me the plan and was immediately passed off to customer service. They passed me off to another dept. It continues on and on of being passed around and many many minutes on hold to no avail. Tried three different cards, including bank debit card to no success. Finally, one card went through for one policy but not the other, what?? I was trying to give this company my money with no success. Very unprofessional company to deal with. What would happen if you had a claim? Find another company.

( Note Aflac insurance is at fault for Pamela K. Kelly or Pamela K. Kelly Odom not having Pamela signed on to the accident policy. When Pamela broke and dislocated her shoulder on Labor Day September the 5th one of the first things later that evening Pamela said is that we will file a claim with Aflac insurance since I have Aflac accident insurance. Pamela filled out everything including the Aflac accident insurance when the Aflac insurance agent came around to her employer for it to be filled out. It appears that the Aflac insurance agent that sold Pamela the policies did not follow through on turning in the paper work that Pamela had signed and turned in for the Aflac accident insurance. We hold Aflac insurance and the Aflac insurance agent responsible for not making sure that her Aflac accident insurance was not being held out for like it should have been and we hold Aflac insurance responsible for not paying her for the accident. It is crazy that Aflac insurance could only pay her 385.00 dollars for a nearly $ 100,000.00 dollar surgery. I started spreading the word that Aflac insurance does people wrong and I will keep spreading the word to people not to trust Aflac insurance or do not purchase Aflac insurance because of the way Aflac insurance has treated us and how Aflac insurance has treated many other people wrong. I have read many reviews about Aflac insurance and y’all have treated many people wrong. You are nothing but rich corporate greedy people that treat a lot of poor hard working people wrong. You all have to give an account one day in front of God and Jesus Christ on Judgement Day for what you Aflac insurance owners, corporate people, management, and insurance agents do wrong to people. All I can do is spread the word about Aflac insurance and pray that others do not get treated wrong by Aflac insurance.

10 years of payments down the drain. Insurance we needed after a surgery that caused several weeks of recovery at home. By their own admission, the biggest reason to obtain supplemental insurance. It's a damn lie, don't believe the duck. No phone call, no agent, no customer service, no explanation. Salutation should have read, see you suckers!!suckered!!!

If you're looking to have short term disability claim resolved in a timely fashion then AVOID becoming an AFLAC policy holder if possible. I was off work for two months and submitted documentation multiple time to Aflac and my representative but I still haven't been paid a dime. I went back to work this Monday and they closed my original claim and opened a whole new one so the waiting games and going in circles starts again. My rep keeps saying be patient it's processing but I've tried to explain that I can't tell my landlord or finance company to be patient because Aflac is still processing my claim. Unless you want to lose everything then find a company that actually processes claims and doesn't give you the runaround!
