For some reason, our employer chose this terrible insurance. They made a number of promises, and once we were all committed to our plans for the year, they failed to cover critical medications and preventative care. They changed copay amounts on a whim. They neglected to cover my heart and kidney medications after the first month, and now my condition has worsened. It is undoubtedly the worst company in any industry I have had the displeasure of dealing with.

Terrible company, don't recommend. They have no training, they don't know what they're doing. I've been waiting for more than 2 months for a wheelchair.

AvMed denied an MRI, even though I had an X-ray showing I have no disc left between two vertebrae in my spine, and I'm suffering from severe pain. I pay $900 a month through my employer for this #!!#!! plan. I'm canceling tomorrow. I might as well go uninsured.

I verified that the doctor I wanted to see was in-network and an active provider. After calling customer service for a week, I finally had a "live person" on the phone. They assured me that this doctor was in-network. I just got off the phone with the doctor I wanted to see, and they told me that they have never heard of AvMed. Could this be fraud? Because this doctor is furious his name is even connected to this company.

This is the plan from a nightmare. After **every** service, I have to spend hours on the phone trying to get them to pay my providers. The reps claim to not know reason for denial & they “resubmit.” Two of my providers dropped them for non-payment this year. I have been turned over to collections twice for *PCP* visits Avmed won’t pay, claiming provider billing mistake. Worse: I found out they never reimbursed my PT for 3 months of therapy. They initially refused my *oncology* visits, claiming provider was out of network when he was listed on their own site. Then they randomly paid for 1 visit, leaving the rest unpaid. Another 1 hour phone call. They are SIX months behind on another provider. Do not let a low out of pocket fool you—you will pay when confronted w/ overdue bills at your doctor’s office & in time you will spend calling them. I just ditched them for another insurer & feel like a thousand pound weight is lifted from my shoulders.

Wish I could give those people a minus 5 rating. I switched bank accounts last month which meant I had to enter payees into my online banking. The first thing the bank asked me for was my account number. Since AvMed does not send me any invoice, I had to call them and ask. On my third try and third human being, she told me that the invoice number was the account number. After a lot of hemming and hawing, I relented and put in an invoice number on my online banking. About 15 minutes later, I called AvMed back because that info did not sit right with me. Sure enough, the fourth person I spoke with told me that my Member ID Number was my account number. I went back into my online banking, "canceled" my first payment and proceeded to enter the new information I got. PS: Turns out the "cancel transaction" does not mean "cancel transaction"; payment went through anyway. So for the month of January, AvMed got two premium payments of $1,036.88. I bounced checks to top it all off. Thankfully, my bank reversed all the fees and I was able to transfer some money into that account to stop the bleeding. Here we are, 10 days later, and after multiple calls to AvMed, they still have not returned my money. Last person I talked to said: It's under review. Why? What is there to review? You got paid twice for the same thing, GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK! AvMed, you're the worst. Are you guys broke or something? You are holding my money hostage. Guess my next step will be to file a complaint with the Florida Attorney General's office. Maybe that will get your attention.

I give them a minus 2 stars over 10 years of great service, this year a total mess! Avmed use to be a great insurance, now is a total disaster! all of the good doctors are leaving them, calling customer care is a total waste of time! so far this year I had to stop treatment because of Avmed inability to retain good doctors. Their providers list are so detach from reality that by the time you show up for your appointment the doctor is no longer accepting patients. If you are looking stay away from Avmed! I just received a bill for $715.00 from a Avmed doctor aparently Avmed now is no longer paying their bills>

Two words: Stay Away! That's what I advise friends & family when it comes to Avmed health insurance. Their customer service is a joke. The primary care doctors are very very limited...like no decent doctors office takes them. Even the specialist I wanted to see was not "in network". The one I ended up going to was completely useless and basically passed me off to another specialist. So if you like limited customer service, sparse network of primary care doctors and specialist to choose from then pick AvMed.

Do not even consider this company, you will regret it!! For the last 2 weeks, in this time of medicare enrollment, I wrote to its top executives: james Repp, Ashley Allen and Candy Sicle with a heading: "FROM A PROSPECTIVE MEDICARE ENROLLEE" asking whether they had a medicare staff contact person that one could contact for problems/questions vs calling their customer service line. None of them could even bother to respond! The recent reviews of their abysmal customer service prompted my inquiry. This not the HMO I wish to be associated with...

They keep losing the good doctors. They switched to CVS instead of Walgreens for the OTC. CVS is terrible. Only their brands & the cheapest terrible ones. Usually out of the stuff you want. Delta Dental issues with coverage. Won’t pay for crowns for front teeth. Said it’s only cosmetic just fill them.

I do agree with everyone here...AvMed who used to be one of the best insurance prior to Covid, has now become one of the worst! The customer service is just horrible, the wait on the phone is outrageous (one hour and more!) and their knowledge is very minim. They work from home and just don’t do their work! Also, their list of providers is not updated and less and less accept that insurance! I need an X-ray but no one will accept them in my area!! They are very expensive for absolutely no service!!!!
