I called and spoke to Liniikia after I signed up for a plan. They had me on hold for over an hour and told me that even though it was their mistake, I would have to pay the deductibles for my Bronze plan for a month, even though I was supposed to be set up for a Silver plan.

Denied when most needed. They denied my surgery to remove cancerous tumors and told us we could go to a different state to have the surgery! They also denied the treatment for my cancer but did reconsider and approve at a later time. Absolutely ridiculous to deny a cancer patient and delay surgery!

I had a similar experience with a broken wrist which required surgery to fix. They did not deny my surgery they just kept giving me the names of Orthopedic surgeons that were not in network. I never was given a name of a surgeon who would accept their insurance. Fortunately I have a medical background and knew that I could not wait for weeks or months to get my surgery. I had my surgery done and Caresource paid $0 on a $25,000 surgery. The Indiana Department of Insurance told me Caresource is the worst offender for denying claims. The unfortunate thing is by the time people write a review here Caresource has denied a claim or withheld information on how to obtain care. I found out today the Indiana Department of Insurance is responsible for deciding which companies are eligible to sell health insurance on the Indiana Marketplace aka Obama Care.
I am a graduate of Indiana University and I don't know how they can ethically partner with Caresource Insurance to broadcast their football and basketball games. Care source may help you find a place to live, find food, childcare and transportation, but if you have cancer or a broken arm that needs surgery, you are out of luck.

OMG, where should I start? Customer service representatives were nice, but the information they gave me wasn't accurate. Every person that I reached out to was terrible at providing accurate information. I was trying to find a medical supplier for DME that I need, only to be given five numbers to providers that are no longer in business; every number given was disconnected. Then, the fact that I asked HAP CareSource before I even signed up if the supplies that I use are covered, as well as whether they work with the medical supply company, only to be misinformed. I found out the supplier isn't in their network. I had to track down a supplier myself, which isn't a complaint, but whew, just unreal the lack of care, the lack of empathy. I wouldn't recommend HAP CareSource to anyone. They shouldn't be allowed to participate in the Marketplace!

This is the worst possible choice for health insurance. They will not approve any services, tests, and procedures that you actually need. I have a severely torn meniscus, which is causing me great pain and increasing difficulty in doing my job. My specialist is recommending arthroscopic surgery, but CareSource believes that surgery is "not medically necessary."

CareSource does not help you, it isn't worth playing around with, especially when it comes to your healthcare and needs. They deny more than most, and sadly they used to be the best. As near back as 2019, even up to 2021 they were excellent providers... now they just DENY STAMP everything.

Spammers call me with cryptic messages about being my healthcare provider and needing information. No, I'm with BCBS. Spammers use the number 678-214-7500.

Never would I give the customer service a good review.
Such runaround. They really have no experience or empathy in helping to resolve claims.
I worked 35 years for Aetna, mostly in customer and provider relations. My heart goes out to people who have no clue how insurance works. I cannot wait until I'm on Medicare.

I've had nothing but an awful experience with this company. I signed up with them in December 2023 and I thought I understood the payment structure, but it wasn't clear that they charge you for a set of health services (dental, vision, etc.) plus a premium. I thought my account was paid in full, but I missed the premium payment, so they cancelled my plan. Trying to get any form of good customer service on the phone seems impossible. I tried to get my payment up to date and reinstate my account, but nobody there seems to know what they're talking about. I got sick of being transferred from one line to another because each representative kept telling me I needed to be transferred. Not only this, but despite the plan being cancelled, it's still charging the credit card on file. It's currently unclear whether this issue has been resolved. I hope I don't have to take it to the Better Business Bureau.

I was with CareSource for three years and had a case manager named Amy who, to my amazement, ensured that nothing was handled in those three years. She was a case manager who would divert the direction of my healthcare away from being proactive. It was the worst insurance I've had in the 54 years I've been purchasing insurance. I asked and begged for help and even threatened that I'd have to find another insurer who was willing to put in some effort and be held accountable for their responsibilities. There should be a system where they are held accountable for the pillars and successful milestones they cross or neglect in their duties as a case manager.
The best decision I ever made was to finally leave and give another agency a chance. I couldn't be happier, and my health is really improving by leaps and bounds with a few simple routines.

CareSource employees, from the call center in India—since they have no US-based customer service representatives and thus employees are simply reading off a prompt—and the sales representative informed me that my newborn would be covered for her first 31 days of life. I have since been billed $7,300 for her hospital care and the pediatrician's services. I spent four hours on the phone with various personnel who work for CareSource; none could assist me. I am now reporting them to the Attorney General of Kentucky and the State Insurance Department. It is absurd that we have to jump through hoops to have something like this covered, which is also against Kentucky state law.

I had a heart attack in 2023. CareSource paid the hospital bill, but then, six months later, they reversed their payment, making us responsible for about 96% of the bill. After multiple calls to CareSource with no help from them to pay the bill, I then called and reported them to the Ohio Department of Insurance. I printed out the dates and amounts they paid and the proof of when they reversed those charges. Finally, they paid that bill, but now they say they don't cover one of my medications for my diabetes. I can't afford what they want for it, so I no longer take it. Funny how that works out. They paid for that medication all of last year. Not a good company; they could not care less what you need to take.

Problem: I have canceled my coverage effective 11-30-2023, but CareSource automatically enrolled me in the 2024 plan without my permission. When I called the marketplace, they said they didn't have any active application or coverage, so they could not do anything about it. On the other hand, I have called several times now, waiting for my refund, which CareSource charged me $501.22 for the 2024 coverage. I am still fighting for my money back and the cancellation of the 2024 plan. No one wants to cancel my auto-enrolled coverage.

My wife and I have had CareSource marketplace insurance (Ohio) for a few years now and have found them to be better than Ambetter or Paramount in this particular market. That's not to say that there's never been a problem, but we've always been able to work through it with CareSource. Health insurance can be very complicated, and I feel bad for people who struggle to navigate through the many facets like copays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket maximums. However, it does seem like the company has too many marketplace plans with only slight differences in premiums and coverage. This can be aggravating when trying to choose a plan. Other than that, we've been satisfied and have even had friends sign up based on our recommendation.
