Worst company ever! Went with them because my mortgage company uses MATIC, and they paired me with Homeowners of America. They wanted payment right away but canceled within 30 days. When I received the letter of cancellation, it claimed an actual inspector came to my property, which simply isn't true! They claimed I had a wood burner still on my property that has been gone for 3 years, and they wouldn't give me an option to prove it is gone. Then, they claimed I live in a fire zone 10 when other insurance companies say a 4. They messed up my escrow account right around analysis time, so thanks for that because I had to pay Allstate insurance before I even received my refund check from this horrible company. Also, their customer service is useless!

Poorly run, they require payment in full only to cancel a few days later following an underwriters' review of the policy. They evidently possess the information to determine ineligibility due to wildfire risk but still take your money and cancel 30 days later. Don't waste your time. They are outdated and poorly managed. Look elsewhere. I know several other customers who received reasonable quotes only to have their policies cancelled shortly thereafter. It appears to be a money grab for a 30-day pro-rated policy they have no intention of honoring from the start.

Had hail damage to my home. Should have just sucked it up when I found out my deductible was $8500. Took a month to get an adjuster out, and I specifically said please look at my out building as well, same roof composition. He assured me he did. Got my estimate, did not include the outbuilding. Ok fine! 6 months later, my roof has been replaced, costing me about $20000 out of pocket. Now, no one can seem to figure out when we will be getting our last payment from the insurance. No one will answer the phone, we may get an email back once a week. They are a joke and I hope everyone that works there has their insurance and has to file a claim with them.

Stay far away from this company. It should be criminal how they take advantage of senior citizens. I checked my mom's homeowners insurance, and they were charging her three times the annual rate to insure her home. There is a special place in $&?@ for crooks like you.

This may be the cheapest option, but you get what you pay for. I actually went through two claims with this company, and both were torturous. For the first, I was out of my home for four months, largely due to the delays in their payments. For the second, I am still waiting for checks, going on two months since the remediation and repairs started. To top off the delays in payment, their estimators don't know what they're talking about (the first quoted $9,000 for the whole job when it ended up being $23,000) and often have to be educated by the contractors. And the adjusters? Downright rude. I've rarely experienced such rude service in any other instance. They get two stars from me because they actually did pay (eventually) and covered my out-of-pocket expenses. But I would never recommend them in any capacity.

5-20-2023 We made an insurance claim after our water lines started to corrode. They refused to help, saying it was under the deductible. I even got a contractor to give us an estimate to prove it's not under the deductible. After that, they kept taking forever to "process" that information and in the end, they still rejected helping me.

I had a policy with Homeowners of America for my home. They then wanted to "exempt" my shop building from the policy without giving a reason. I cancelled my policy and insured with someone else. I have contacted them twice regarding my refund for payment on the previous policy since it has been over a month. I was informed that a check had been sent, but since it hasn't been 45 days, they could not re-issue the check. I assure you, if they were waiting on money from me, they would want the funds expedited!

Homeowners Insurance of America dropped us with no notice. It wasn't until after several inquiries that they said it was because we had an older home and that they needed evidence that the mechanicals had been updated. We sent them photos as they requested, no response. We sent receipts that dated the upgrades back to 2010. They responded that "per their guidelines in Illinois" the upgrades could be no more than 10 years old. Who has the need or the money to upgrade their systems every 10 years?

THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE! A truck crashed into and through my house! The siding on my house is 15 years old and could not be found to be replaced. This joke of a company would not pay for the siding to be replaced on the rest of the house that was not damaged because "a reasonable person could not tell the difference in siding." They wanted me to have half brand new siding and half 15-year-old siding on my house and REFUSE to cover the over $14,000 I have to pay out of pocket to fix the siding from a truck crashing into my house, which was completely out of my control. We pay for homeowners insurance for situations out of our control! They will do EVERYTHING to not pay. DO NOT USE HOMEOWNERS OF AMERICA!

Absolute Shysters.
These people wrote a policy for a newly updated home I just purchased. About three weeks after closing, suddenly, they came out of the woodwork with all sorts of insane demands for information about rehab updates to the home far above and beyond what was detailed in the seller's disclosure. Even after a good sixty days of working with the seller, both real estate agents, and the contractors involved, these clowns still weren't satisfied that the work done in the house was as represented.
Either don't write a policy for an updated home from the 1930s, send your own damn inspector out like a real insurance company, or accept all of the evidence that people working in good faith are trying to provide you. In the end, even though we were able to show that all of the fixtures, water heater, and everything else related to the plumbing was replaced, we ended up being dropped because, I think, we couldn't show that everything was ripped out to the bare studs and all of the supply lines and waste pipes were new, as well. To be fair, I don't think anyone would reasonably assume that all of that work would also be done unless stated otherwise in the seller's disclosure sheet. Although I'm sure their terms cover their unethical actions, this seems like a gross misrepresentation of their intent to offer agreed upon services.

The temperature hit at 8 degrees bursting the pipes flooding my floors and carpet damaging other pipes due to the explosion, damaging the appliances and these guys won't cover it...!?? When I say run to another insurance provider fast. Run!!!!! These folks are ripping people off. Who knew that when you needed your insurance company most - they'd turn their backs on you.

Dropping them immediately - had them for almost 6 years and A business EXPLODED in my neighborhood causing damage to my house and THEY DENIED MY CLAIM. Why bother having insurance if they are not there for you when you need them? My lawyer warned me they had a reputation for being the absolute worst. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
