Appalling service. They dragged my claim out for months, changed adjusters, who then went on vacation, ignored my new documentation for another month, said they would call me, then just sent me a letter saying to go to arbitration. Their technique is to make a low offer and then drag it out for as long as possible to try to make you accept it.
As a realtor, I will ensure none of my clients ever goes near this excuse for a company.

Don't waste your money or time. They kept trying to find things wrong to drop my insurance. I gave them everything that they requested, and they still dropped my insurance.

Do not use Universal Property for any of your needs. They are the worst to deal with and I never had a callback from them. Customer service is very poor.

No Responses - I have found only ONE way to get these people to respond, and that is to contact the State Insurance Commissioner. The next day, I received a call back from UP. However, my experiences with them regarding my claim is why I gave them this rating.

The only thing I need to say about this company is to get yourself a lawyer and sue them. They will take your money with no problem, but when it comes to paying out claims, they will find every reason in the book to deny them. Get yourself a lawyer. I've got a number for one if anybody needs it. I wish I could take that one star away.

Writing another review to hope it gets me somewhere again, because calling and leaving voicemails every day is doing nothing. Seriously, the only time I can actually get information and talk to someone is when I call into the customer service line, and they can only do so much.
I wrote a review back in April about poor customer service, communication, and the time it took to just receive the mitigation check. This claim is from September of 2024. Here we are again, with our house torn apart, waiting for them to approve the next estimate to fix it. The final estimate was uploaded on 5/8. I called on 5/20 to check the status, at which point I was informed that it had not even been looked at yet. On 5/30, I was informed Ryan Lashley was our adjuster that was dealing with it. Fast forward to now, I have called our adjuster every day and left voicemails with no response. I have zero patience left as I’m 36 weeks pregnant and we are down to one room in our home to accommodate my husband, our 2-year-old toddler, and me, with a newborn coming at any time now. On top of this, I've also been trying to get a hold of them for a document required by our mortgage company to endorse the check to our restoration company, who has already provided the work, and I can’t even get hold of them for that. The document they did send 3-4 days ago was not even remotely what I asked for. This whole process has been a nightmare.

This is the worst insurance company I've ever encountered. I purchased a policy for 6,000 dollars after conducting a four-point inspection and submitting all the requested documents. I signed up with them in November, and now in February, they have raised my rates twice without notice, claiming my roof didn't have double shingles, even though it does, as shown in the inspection report. Their inspector, who never went on my roof, said it wasn't properly shingled despite visible evidence to the contrary. Additionally, they requested a marriage certificate because the alarm system was in my husband's name, even though the ADT certificate already had my house address, along with our driver's licenses.
Now my policy has increased to over 7,000 dollars because they selectively acknowledge what they want. From November to February, I've paid them 6,000 dollars for two quarters, and now they've sent me another cancellation notice for owing more money. I called to confirm the outstanding balance, to reiterate that my roof does have double shingles as indicated in my four-point inspection, and to clarify that I was told in November the ADT documentation was sufficient. After calling four times to ascertain the correct amount I "owe," I've received different figures: 103, 39, 49, and now 646 dollars. Having paid 85% of the policy in the second quarter, and despite being given another figure of 1,895 dollars, I'm told my policy will be canceled again.
I have never experienced such an ordeal with an insurance provider. They are completely unprofessional, clueless about outstanding balances, prone to revoke discounts, and inclined to charge arbitrary amounts. Had I not invested so much money already, I would have canceled the policy. November cannot arrive soon enough.

The worst insurance company on the market, they will cancel your policy on false allegations, claiming they have documentation that they can't provide. I advise you to spend a little more for better service and a better policy. This company should be investigated for malpractice.

Absolutely. What good is the lowest rate if they retroactively change it months later -- they send an ap to confirm, but we have no way of knowing how the company evaluates that category and more importantly you would not ask because by that time they have totally freaked you out with constant communication on garbage and requests for documentation you should not and would not provide (and they don't really want it). Total sleaze, perfect for the do-nothing insurance commission in your state and they will refer you there -- how convenient.

I have been a loyal premium payer for over 14 years with Universal Property and Casualty Insurance. I was always on time with my payments and on good terms with the company. At the time when Hurricane Milton hit us in Bradenton, FL on October 7, 2024, our roof was destroyed, and the seals to our ventilation pipes burst due to the wind. I contacted Universal Property to report that we had been hit and we had damage to our house. There was no flooding, but extreme wind damage that caused our roof to be blown apart and the seals around our ventilation pipes to break. They said we would get a field estimator to come out. Because our entire neighborhood was devastated by the hurricane, another field adjuster not assigned to estimate the damages said he was in the area and he could do the estimate soon. So, I agreed. He stepped into our house, looked around for two minutes, and claimed that all this damage was caused by us and not by the hurricane. He noted there were four shingles missing from our roof and suggested that we could patch that up. He then left my house. Two weeks later, I received an unfavorable estimate from Universal Property and their claims adjuster company, Alder Adjusting, in a letter stating that my claim is under the hurricane deductible, so they owed me nothing. I immediately contacted a public adjuster and emailed the CEO and upper management of the company, demanding action. Despite their efforts, they still don't want to give me what I need to fix my house because they donated nearly $8 million to charities, presumably to hide their attempts of bad faith. Shame on Property and Casualty Insurance!

Yes, the review on "fake" policies is correct, and they don't even flinch. Not at all okay. They "incorrectly" wrote the policy, accompanied by months of unreasonable requests and repetitive emails, responses to which they ignored. It's all a scheme to put it through a retroactive "90-day review period," so they can tell me I am in a different protection class and need to update the exterior. None of which should have extended beyond the policy start date. They picked a date and started it over a month early, by the way, and then passed it back and forth between Universal and Nsure, the agent, which they claim is "independent." They try to place blame and do the post-contract work, saying "surely I would know what the exterior is," as if I could write the policy or make a correction myself. Had they been at all honest or communicated properly, I would have mentioned how other companies have classified the outside. It's straightforward, egregious theft. State-sponsored stealing. The proximity to a fire station is determined before the policy is written, which is part of the scheme. The cancellation request was passed around, and the refund check was, of course, short by a large amount. This needs to be addressed.

0 I have been waiting for more than six months and the agents in charge of the claim, first, none of them respond, second, it seems that they are fired very often because you ask about them and no one works anymore, alas. None of the supervisors answer, be careful because apparently the last option is to look for a lawyer, the worst thing is

Sad to say, but every review that I've read on Google is 100% correct. These people will not respond to calls or emails! If your house is damaged and this is your insurance company, you are in a bad situation just like me and others. Those of you who have gotten your claims resolved and houses fixed, you better thank God. I've submitted a claim since October, call twice a week and leave emailed. I think at this point I need a lawyer because clearly, they don't care. Universal Property, please do better by your customers!

This company is practicing unethical business practices! They are creating fake policies just to lead people to closing and then canceling them. My son just closed on a mobile home in Florida, which they are now claiming they canceled because they do not offer mobile home policies. However, we had a policy at closing that someone was paid for.

Do not waste your time and money on Universal Property & Casualty! They take your money and do nothing! We had a severe hail storm on May 8, 2023. I had three different roofers look at my roof, and all said it needed to be replaced. Alders Adjusting came out. The guy was very rude and would not let my roofer on his ladder. He denied my claim, so I asked for a second review, and they would not send anyone out. If you have homeowners insurance with them, cancel it before it is too late.
