Gave one star because I couldn't give less. They promised a 6% return, but you only get that if the sun shines on the 32nd of July at midnight and it's raining because of the fuzzy math they use to calculate the return.

Once they have your money, my retirement by the way, they make it so difficult to get it back. The returns are horrible, customer service is horrible, long waits on the phone. The final insult, after 3 years of sitting on my money, is not only paying out a surrender fee, which by the way comes off your initial investment, but also the over $7,000 I did earn in interest. They keep that on top of the surrender value. Do not waste your time and money with this company. Read the comments! I finally had enough with them; I filed the paperwork on 1/16/2024 and am still waiting for my money. It amazes me that in this day of transfers it is now 2/5/2024, and still my money is on hold. You have been warned.

No surprise. You signed a contract for a multi year insurance annuity that has not matured. You want out of the contract, so you are assessed charges. It was all in writing and up-front. I dont know why people enter into agreements they dont like then cant understand why breaking the contract has costs. Makes no sense.

Upfront bonuses are a scam to draw you in. The 2021-2023 Annuity returned zero. Research the average index percentage return during this same period. Equitrust does not know how to make money, period! You're better off burying your money in your backyard to preserve the principal; at least you can access it when you need it.

This is the most unethical company in the insurance and financial industry. Their selling agents either outright lie about their products or do not disclose the details of the contract. We invested money thinking to get a decent return and to keep it secure, but it never made a penny, stay away, they should be sued.

RUN don't walk away from these crooks. I got roped in with half disclosure and when I found out the whole truth of the product I canceled. I have NEVER in my 69 years been talked to like the agent (David) talked to me. Now he won't answer calls, texts, emails.And it gets better.. they went ahead with the transfer of my money. I get told a different story each time I call and the money is no where to be found. Seeking legal counsel as of today. I am recently widowed and it was 90% of my money.

The managers running this company are the most deceitful bunch I have ever encountered. They swindle your hard earned money imposing unjustified penalties and refuse to make it right. Heartless and money hungry best describes them. I'm sorry I had anything to do with them. I would choose ANY company over them. Not to be trusted.

See the other reviews on Yelp. This place reminds me, eerily, of a Ponzi scheme. If you haven't gotten your money out yet, do it. NOW.
They give you the runaround about your withdrawals and expect you to hang on forever while they tell you they need this, that, and the other to put you off. They don't need anything else from us to process the request.
This is FRAUD. And it ends today.
We are sending a demand letter. If we don't have our money by the date/time we demand, they'll be hearing from the Iowa State Attorney General's Office.
Get your money out now. And RUN.

This company and it's agents are as bad as scammers calling on the elderly. One of their agents sold my 92 year old mother an annuity for 5 years and didn't add the nursing home clause, so now I have to pay about 3500 dollars to get the 20,000 dollars to pay for her nursing home. No one should sell a 92 year old in failing health an annuity. After an hour dealing with their customer service, being switched 4 times, then they make you jump thru hoops to get a p.o.a. in effect. Despicable.

As a beneficiary of an EquiTrust Anunity policy my experience with customer service has demonstrated the unprofessional lack 0f concern for beneficiaries as I am. Customer service answering is at best disinterested and or rude and did not answer my question.. but asked me who is the owner of annuity?

Firstly i was scammed into annuities with this company. promises of a 6% return when its been 0-1% , they literally laughed at me and said i should have read the fine print and that I signed it. I am stuck with absurd 15% surrender penalties and when trying to get my yearly penalty free with drawl its like pulling teeth. They have very uninformed customer service, I get put on indefinite -hold - ignore or hung up on. They do not call back and rarely have an answer to the status of my request.

As a beneficiary, I have been disgusted at the overall lack of professionalism and customer service. Cannot even get the most basic of answers. Instead I have been confronted by an attitude of not my monkey not my circus. Have essentially put a halt to the claim process. Do your beneficiaries a big favor and choose another annuity provider.
