My husband and I paid the significant Genworth LTC premiums for 20 years. After receiving a diagnosis of COPD with emphysema midstage and multiple other debilitating health issues (severe osteoarthritis with severe osteoporosis, Type 2 diabetes, severe sleep apnea, GERD) , and following the advice of my Genworth agent, I filed a claim in 2023 and began receiving reimbursement for in-home care services. Then, three weeks ago, Care Scout conducted an "audit" and, based on their auditor's opinion, denied my existing claim. COPD does not improve, and my health has definitely deteriorated compared to when my claim was accepted. Therefore, improved health was not a valid reason for discontinuing this active claim. Many statements in the denial letter were unfounded. I received a copy of the questionnaire Care Scout completed and it was full of blatant inaccuracies and errors. Clearly, the audit was intended to deny benefits.
We would have been better off putting our substantial Genworth payments into a CD for 20 years. Paying Genworth is an absolute sham. They are unethical and downright deceptive. We feel cheated. I am writing this review to caution others considering the new Care Scout LTC. I do not have the energy to go through appeals, legal cases, etc., but I will notify the Georgia Insurance Commissioner. I deeply regret ever associating with Genworth.
