They are literally the worst company to handle any kind of disability leaves for employers. No one ever knows anything; you get transferred to a leave specialist who never returns calls. Completely false information was provided, and no one knows what they're talking about when you call to get questions answered. I hope our employer definitely chooses to go to someone else. It's been nothing but headaches from the very beginning.

Awful company - avoid at all costs!
My in-laws purchased a life insurance policy over 30 years ago with Alexander Hamilton Life, which was eventually acquired by Lincoln. Unfortunately, Lincoln doesn't care about the life insurance policies they've acquired through buyouts. What's worse is that the premiums have significantly increased over the last few years - I suspect we've paid more than $30,000 for a $25,000 policy. There is no means of making online payments (they didn't bother setting that up). Customer support is terrible, assuming you can even reach them on the phone. Most of the time, you are left on hold, only to reach someone overseas who does not understand English or is useless. On the rare occasions you connect with someone in the U.S., you get some combination of attitude and misinformation. When it comes time for them to make a payout, they never respond.
How this company remains in operation is a mystery. It's more than just incompetence with Lincoln; it's fraud. Someone needs to investigate and shut them down before others get burned.

I am beyond frustrated and deeply disappointed with London Financial. For months, I've faithfully paid into their short-term disability plan with each paycheck, trusting that I would be supported when needed. Now, while I'm on leave, I've received nothing. Despite countless attempts to reach them, it wasn't until I escalated the issue that I finally got a call. And the outcome? They're only willing to pay me $50 a week, all because I'm also receiving FMLA benefits through Washington State. This crucial information was never made clear in my portal or during enrollment. If they're going to offset the benefit like this, then why am I even paying into it?
The case manager assigned to me was rude and extremely difficult to reach. The entire process has been a complete headache, and the lack of transparency and communication is inexcusable.
I'll be telling my coworkers as soon as I return to work so they can make a more informed decision and avoid making the same mistake I did. I'll be canceling this benefit immediately and strongly recommend others do the same. Stay far away from this disreputable company.

I purchased a life insurance policy over 30 years ago from Lincoln National Life Insurance Company. At the time, the policy paid a 4% guaranteed interest rate. After around 25 years, I noticed the administrative fees, about $200 monthly to "care for the policy," had become so high that the premium I was paying could not cover all the expenses. Essentially, administrative fees were about 10%, while the policy interest was 4%. At this point, the policy loses money every month. In talking with Lincoln National Life Insurance Company, I asked if administrative fees would ever decrease. They assured me they would keep rising. Soon, the policy will lapse and it will be worth nothing. I can either cash in my surrender value now or let it lapse and have life insurance for a couple more years. I am writing this review for all you 20-25-year-old individuals who are considering life insurance for your family. Please don't make the same mistake I did. Find out what the policy will be worth when you turn 65 or so. At 25, you just want the protection for your family, but after paying them for years, all I got was the protection with zero remaining to show for it. This was not a term policy but a universal life policy, purchased from someone I thought was reputable. Please do your homework carefully, and my suggestion would be to stay away from Lincoln National Life Insurance Company.

On May 28, 2025, my husband sent a request to surrender his life insurance policy from Lincoln Financial Group. We sent it to the correct address for Lincoln National in Greensboro, NC. After three weeks passed, my husband called the Greensboro office. He was told that the paperwork was not complete. He asked why no one contacted us to let us know and was told the surrender request "had been closed." We resent the packet on June 30. After two weeks, he called and asked why a deposit had not been made. He was told it could be another week. He called back after another week and asked for a supervisor. He was told that the information for our checking account was insufficient and the bank would not transfer the money. We had included two voided checks to the Greensboro office. He was told they had mailed the check instead. I finally called the Raleigh office where the insurance had originated. A representative from the Raleigh office contacted the Greensboro office. She stated that there was a software issue between the Credit Union and Lincoln Financial. She said it was a common problem and it was no fault of our own, and a check was mailed from Texas. We received the check nearly two months after the initial request was sent. Because of this, the surrender value had decreased. It seems that Lincoln Financial purposely delayed our request for their own financial gain, especially since they "closed the request" in June. Lincoln Financial's treatment of us was definitely negligent. In my opinion, Lincoln Financial owes my husband for the decrease. It is also my opinion that Lincoln Financial should discontinue outsourcing to India.

The case managers for Lincoln Financial are not prompt in their submissions. Between my husband and myself, we have to stay in constant contact with this case manager to ensure she is processing his claims because she is apparently either incompetent, overworked, or incapable of doing her job in a timely manner. Thankfully, we can live on my income in the meantime while they process his pay. I should not have to manage my full-time career, their job, and everything else I do. I do not get paid to constantly remind a company's case manager when they need to complete their tasks promptly for their customers. I do feel for those who are not as fortunate as we are to have another source of income coming into the household to pay for necessary bills. I do not know why the stakeholders/shareholders of this company allow this to continue with all the negative reviews. Lincoln Financial needs to do better. Their policies and processes are absolutely the worst. If I worked the way they do, I would not have the job I do.

Well, my husband and I have several accounts/annuities with Lincoln. Until about 2022 or so, things were great; however, obtaining our RMDs for the past couple of years has been impossible, taking two months and many phone calls to each entity. It is exhausting, to say the least. Whether it's due to incompetence or something else, it needs to be fixed! Lincoln has outsourced to South Africa, making communication very difficult due to the lack of knowledge of those responsible for getting things done. Not only that, when you involve a third party, it's almost impossible to place the blame due to each entity blaming one another, along with things missing that somehow were not attached or were never done. It is so frustrating to be in the middle of companies that behave this way. Furthermore, trying to get a hold of anyone at Lincoln or an administrator is impossible. Emails are never answered. Someone at Lincoln needs to be fired, period!

This business is not legitimate. A loved one developed a health condition and has short- and long-term disability insurance through their employer. They delay, can't be reached by phone, provide misleading information, talk in circles, make you fill out the same paperwork multiple times to delay, make mistakes and then deny it. In the end, the claim was denied, I assume, as they never offered a decision or explanation, just stated that the claim was closed. The loved one is dropping all Lincoln Financial benefits because they are unreliable and cannot be trusted to provide what you are paying for. It's disappointing!

"My husband has a life insurance policy with Lincoln, not through work; it was obtained independently. Because of a terminal illness with a few months left to live, he can access an accelerated death benefit of $250k (minus fees). We sent documentation, filled out paperwork, and about six weeks later, Lincoln sent the check. But the check is made out incorrectly. They did not spell out the actual words of the amount ("two hundred fifty thousand"), they instead listed the amount in numerals in two places on the check, rendering it non-negotiable. Wells Fargo will not accept it and told me to have Lincoln reissue the check using the correct format.
After several calls to Lincoln to request a new check, I wasted time and got nowhere. They are unpleasant to deal with. Lincoln has stated they won't reissue the check because they maintain this is the way they write all checks and I just need to explain to Wells Fargo how things are done; they are clearly the ones at fault here.
After this, we returned to WF and spoke to the branch manager, who looked up the account number the check was written from. She found dozens of checks that they had honored from other clients for amounts up to $2 million - all were written out correctly (words and numerals to double state the amount, the same way we all learned to write checks in the US). She said the rule is the same in other banks - it's a standard policy that all US financial institutions abide by.
The check is drawn on a Bank of America account, so we then tried going to a BofA branch with the check in hopes of opening an account there with the check so we could access the funds. It turns out they won't accept it either - no American bank will because it doesn't follow check-writing guidelines set forth by the Department of the Treasury.
So much incompetence and dishonesty.

Subject: Formal Complaint – Mishandling of Disability Claim, Unacceptable Delays, and Grossly Unprofessional Conduct by Investigator
I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding Lincoln Financial's mishandling of my disability claim and the appalling level of service I have received throughout the process—particularly from claims investigator R.H.
From the outset, communication from your team has been poor at best and negligent at worst. I have been left completely in the dark about the status of my claim, the process, and any expected timelines. R.H., who was assigned to my case, has provided zero communication, failed to return any of my calls, and never once answered the phone. She does not provide a direct line of communication or personal email, and makes no effort to interact with claimants or explain even the most basic aspects of the claims process.
This is unacceptable. As a case investigator, it is her job to communicate, inform, and assist—not to avoid contact and leave claimants to figure things out for themselves. Her lack of professionalism, transparency, and responsiveness is alarming. I have received more help from automated systems than I have from the person who is supposed to be managing my case.
In addition to R.H.'s failure to fulfill her responsibilities, my disability payments have been repeatedly delayed without any legitimate explanation or warning. The stress this has caused during a medically vulnerable time is immeasurable and entirely avoidable if your staff had simply done their jobs.
I am demanding immediate resolution to the following: 1. Timely processing and payment of all outstanding benefits. 2. A full explanation of the delays and mismanagement of my claim. 3. Formal acknowledgment of this complaint and investigation into the conduct of claims investigator R.H.
If this matter is not resolved promptly and appropriately, I will not hesitate to file complaints with the Department of Insurance, escalate the issue to my state representatives, and seek legal counsel. I will also make my experience public to warn others of the unprofessional and negligent service I’ve received from Lincoln Financial and its representatives.
You are dealing with people who are already under enough stress—your complete failure to show basic competence and compassion is inexcusable.
Sincerely, T. L.

Please stay clear of this company! They took two months to deny disability claims even with FMLA and doctor's reports. This is definitely an insurance scam company. Do not buy any type of policy with them. They do not respond to calls. The customer service is very poor. They claim that correspondence is sent, but it may take several weeks or months to receive.

I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy; they are lazy, incompetent, and do nothing but lie. I can't believe they had to stoop to the level of fabricating a lie about my doctor pertaining to written documentation so they could deny my claim. They are nothing but crooks, and if I could, I would give a zero-star rating. Would someone please investigate these crooks and make them pay for making people's lives miserable?
