I like to start by saying that this has been the worst company I’ve ever dealt with concerning short-term disability is impossible to speak with someone I’ve called multiple times trying to speak to my case manager and two or three weeks later I’m finding to get a call Back. Then it was time to submit my banking account information to receive payment because I have returned back to work of course there was a discrepancy on my end and I admit to that no one called to let me know that the account number and routing number will switched around so that I could correct it Instead, I had to call multiple times speak to multiple people just for someone to tell me that my bank account and routing number were in the opposite place and I need to be corrected in which I did immediately then I was told that it will take 1 to 3 business days for the payment to submit to my account which took seven business days. No one called me back to tell me that it’s just that they were giving me the runaround and I don’t think anyone cares if this is your livelihood or that you have families to take care of behind these matters but I pay my money every two weeks deducted from my check to pay this company just to receive a little to no help at all.
My claim, but not the extension stating they saw no reason I could not work per their nurse practitioner. My PCP, who went to medical school, he walked into the office door and as soon as he saw me knew right then and there I had issues. I not only saw him I saw two psychiatrists while I was off work one of them for several appointments. LF stated I could deal with daily work and life situations and they denied my claim. So, my Dr who knows me and my husband very well, we are both his patients, says yes I need this time away due to all of the issues we are Dealing with. He even wrote a letter to LF stating this time was needed but the Nurse practitioner for LF says I didn’t need that time off. These people are a joke and so I will complain to my HR representative as I am losing quite a bit of money they are refusing to pay me or approve the remainder of my time off. I did everything required of me to comply with what information-notes, paperwork, doctor recommendations etc for the extension. I told my case representative that LF causes even more stress and problems for people who are going through enough crap already, then have to deal with this bunch of useless people. It is ridiculous. They are a crap 💩 company.
I am currently Considering legal action. They don’t deserve a 1 rating.
In May of 2025, I was looking at updating some services and name changes to these policies and discovered that these liens were still showing, implying that the paperwork sent in 2007 had never been processed. I inquired about what was needed and had it submitted by the current bank, which has changed names three times since 2007. This was in June 2025. In September 2025, I attempted to contact them to handle the changes. They stated that they mailed me a letter dated August 6, 2025, with additional information needed. I never received this letter by mail but did have them send a copy to me via email. Additional paperwork was submitted two weeks later.
I followed up once again via email on October 20th. They had still not processed the documents and said they sent me a letter dated October 13th, indicating that something else was needed. This was after the bank's officer and I had called them to ensure they had everything required. I still haven't received the October 13th letter. The president of the bank called them and finally got them to release these assignments.
I had decided to cash in these policies instead of trying to update the files, as I felt these policies were no longer necessary for our financial planning. The banker requested that they expedite the surrender forms I had submitted two weeks prior to the fourth release of assignments sent. They now show no value online, but as of today, more than a month since submission, I still have not received the checks for these policies.
I have never had a problem receiving the annual reports or the annual premium bill. I did not want to give any stars, actually negative, but with the 495 complaints the state of Kansas shows for them this year, it is pretty clear they are the worst. However, in my 40 years, I can't say that I have had good service from most insurance companies. I can't imagine those who are laypeople speaking to these representatives without knowing what questions to ask.
I spent a good part of those 40 years on the phone trying to deal with companies and their inability to process properly completed paperwork. And I am sorry, but it is only getting worse. Just wait until AI takes over these issues.
My in-laws purchased a life insurance policy over 30 years ago with Alexander Hamilton Life, which was eventually acquired by Lincoln. Unfortunately, Lincoln doesn't care about the life insurance policies they've acquired through buyouts. What's worse is that the premiums have significantly increased over the last few years - I suspect we've paid more than $30,000 for a $25,000 policy.
There is no means of making online payments (they didn't bother setting that up). Customer support is terrible, assuming you can even reach them on the phone. Most of the time, you are left on hold, only to reach someone overseas who does not understand English or is useless. On the rare occasions you connect with someone in the U.S., you get some combination of attitude and misinformation. When it comes time for them to make a payout, they never respond.
How this company remains in operation is a mystery. It's more than just incompetence with Lincoln; it's fraud. Someone needs to investigate and shut them down before others get burned.
The case manager assigned to me was rude and extremely difficult to reach. The entire process has been a complete headache, and the lack of transparency and communication is inexcusable.
I'll be telling my coworkers as soon as I return to work so they can make a more informed decision and avoid making the same mistake I did. I'll be canceling this benefit immediately and strongly recommend others do the same. Stay far away from this disreputable company.
