Yes, Capital One effectively became the owner of Orchard Bank, but indirectly, through its 2012 acquisition of HSBC’s U.S. credit card business, which included all Orchard Bank credit card accounts.
After the acquisition closed on May 1, 2012, Capital One discontinued new Orchard Bank applications and eventually phased out the brand. Former Orchard Bank customers were transitioned to Capital One servicing and products.
