The Emerald Card withdrawal limit is $3,000 per day from an ATM. In addition, you can withdraw up to available balance in the card account per day from a teller at banks and credit unions that display the MasterCard logo in their window.
Emerald Card Purchase and Withdrawal Limits
| Type of Transaction | Limit |
| Purchases | $3,500 per day |
| Over-the-Counter Cash Withdrawals (e.g., from a bank teller or retailer) | available balance in the card account per day |
| ATM Withdrawals | $3,000 per day |
Prepaid debit cards can be used in two ways: to make purchases or to withdraw cash from a bank teller, cashier, or ATM. You can spend the full balance of your prepaid card without ever touching cash, but if you do find yourself in need of cash, you can withdraw it from your prepaid card.
How to Withdraw Money From Your Emerald Card
- Visit a bank or credit union. Take your Emerald Card to your local bank or credit union, and you should be able to get cash by speaking to a teller. Your Emerald Card may charge a $35 fee for this service.
- Withdraw money from an ATM. The Emerald Card charges a $3 fee to withdraw money from an out-of-network ATM, in addition to any fees charged by the ATM’s operator. It may be difficult to withdraw your full Emerald Card balance from an ATM, since most ATMs limit cash withdrawals to multiples of $20, $10 or, rarely, $5.
- Get cash back from a retail store. When you make a purchase using your Emerald Card and PIN at a retail store, you have the option to get cash back, effectively turning the cashier into a free ATM. The retailer may limit the amount of cash back they will give to customers who make debit purchases. In addition, it may be difficult to withdraw your full balance this way, since cash back is usually only offered in denominations of $20 or $10. There is no fee for this service.
