Bank of America credit cards generally require a credit score of 700 or higher (at least good credit) and enough income to afford the monthly bill payments. You also need an SSN or ITIN and a valid U.S. address, and you need to be at least 18 years old to qualify.
Minimum Bank of America Credit Card Requirements
- Enough income to make the monthly minimum card payment
- Bad credit accepted for certain cards
- 18+ years old
- Social Security number or International Tax Identification Number
- Employment information
- Physical U.S. address (no P.O. boxes)
If you apply for a Bank of America card, make sure you enter all the required information completely and accurately. Knowingly reporting false or misleading information on a credit card application is a federal crime. Similarly, keep in mind that the above requirements are guidelines and approval is never guaranteed.
If you don't know whether your credit score qualifies you for a Bank of America credit card, you can check it for free on WalletHub. You can even gauge your approval odds for certain Bank of America cards by using the online prequalification tool on Bank of America's website. Just keep in mind that while getting pre-qualified indicates good odds of approval, it does not guarantee it. It's also worth checking out our editor's guide on how to improve your credit score.

The Bank of America credit card requirements differ a lot based on the credit card you want to apply for. They have cards ranging from bad credit (like the BankAmericard Secured) with lenient requirements and high-end cards for people with excellent credit (like the Bank of America Cash Rewards & Travel Rewards) that will require a credit score of at least 750.
