The best emergency pet care credit card is the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card because it offers 2% cash rewards on purchases, plus $200 cash rewards after spending $500 on purchases in the first 3 months. Wells Fargo Active Cash also has an introductory APR of 0% for 12 months from account opening and a $1,000+ credit limit.
Just bear in mind that a regular APR of 18.99%, 23.99%, or 28.99% Variable will apply when the intro rate expires, and there’s a balance transfer fee of 3% intro for 120 days, then up to 5% (min $5). Also, keep in mind that you can use this card, and the others in the list below, for a lot more than pet expenses. The best cards have great features that pet owners can take advantage of but everyone else can enjoy, too.
Best Emergency Pet Care Credit Cards
The cards listed above offer useful features for pet owners, but they aren't intended solely for pet expenses. If you’re looking for an emergency pet care credit card designed specifically for that task, the CareCredit Credit Card is a good option. It’s accepted by more than 250,000 veterinarians nationwide. That said, any vet who takes credit cards will accept any Visa or Mastercard. And you can get a better deal if you don’t limit yourself to cards specifically for pet owners.
When using a credit card for major purchases such as emergency veterinary services, set a deadline to pay off the debt and stick to it. If using a 0% interest credit card, keep an eye on when the introductory interest rate expires. If you don’t pay off the balance by then, you will be charged interest on the unpaid balance. And be careful of "deferred interest" cards like the CareCredit Credit Card. If you don’t pay off the entire balance by the end of the intro term, the regular interest rate will be applied retroactively to your entire original balance.

That Active Cash Wells Fargo card looks pretty good. I want something with rewards and 0% APR. Anything to beware of?

If you need to finance pet care, go with a 0% card like Wells Fargo Reflect/U.S. Bank Shield. If you can afford the bill, go with a cash rewards card (eg Active Cash/Freedom Unlimited). Good luck!

The CareCredit Credit Card is the best for pet owners. You can use it to pay for routine checks, surgery and emergencies for your pet.

@watsonjune48: I’m really sorry to hear that! Have you tried a different card?

The Citi Simplicity® Card is pretty good, I used it a couple of times for my iguana.
