No, you cannot use your Chime Credit Card with no money in your secured account. To use your card, you need to have available credit to cover your purchases. Also, if you attempt to make a purchase that exceeds your available credit limit or available balance, the transaction will be declined.
How the Chime Credit Card Works
The Chime Credit Card is a secured credit card. You can move any amount of money (up to $10,000) from your Chime checking account to your “Credit Builder” account, and that amount becomes your security deposit. This amount equals your spending limit, too.
If you are looking for a credit card that doesn’t require a security deposit, you can check out our editors’ latest picks for the best unsecured credit cards for bad credit. However, it's important to remember that a credit card is not free money, but rather a form of borrowing. So, it's important to use credit responsibly and only charge what you can afford to pay back.
