Traditional secured credit cards, on the other hand, require a refundable security deposit only at account opening. This deposit serves as collateral but it is not used for monthly payments. Because of this, secured credit cards can still be a good option for people who can't qualify for traditional credit cards, because they don’t require ongoing deposits.
