The reason why your Chase credit card application status is under review is that Chase has yet to decide whether to approve or deny you, and your application decision will come later. When you don’t receive an instant decision from Chase, you’ll usually hear back within 7-10 business days of applying. Rarely, it can take Chase up to 30 days to make a ruling.
Keep in mind that you can check the status of your Chase credit card application over the phone at (888) 338-2586. While you wait for a decision, there are a few things to keep in mind.
Chase Card Application Status Under Review: What to Know
- Factors that need reviewing: Chase looks at your credit history, income, debt, housing status, and number of recently-opened cards, among other things, when deciding whether to approve your application.
- Approval time: Chase credit card applications are usually under review for 7-10 business days. However, some applicants may receive an instant decision, while others may have to wait up to 30 business days in rare cases.
- How to check your application status: You can check the status of your application as often as you want. To do so, call (888) 338-2586, follow the prompts, and enter your Social Security number. At the moment, there is no way to check the status online.
- What to do if your application is denied: If your application is denied, you can call Chase’s reconsideration number at (888) 270-2127. Reconsideration is a long shot, but it’s worth trying if your circumstances have changed or you need to explain something on your application.
It is worth noting that all Chase credit card applications have the status “under review” at some point, whether for a matter of seconds or days.
Chase Credit Card Application Under Review: What to Expect
- You could get an email saying you’re approved and receive your new card in the mail after another 7-10 business days. You can, though, call Chase customer service to request a 72-hour expedited delivery for a fee.
- You could be denied by email and get a letter explaining why in 7-10 business days.
- You could be asked to provide extra documentation or clarify a mistake in your application.
Ultimately, if you’re denied, don’t get discouraged. WalletHub’s free credit analysis will tell you exactly how to improve your credit score. You’ll also receive recommendations for credit cards with high approval odds.

I applied for a Suntrust Cash Rewards card today and got the message that my application was under review and I would receive an answer in 7 to 10 days. However, a couple of hours later I checked on the status of my application on their website by using the application ID number they gave me. I had been issued an account number and a credit limit, so I was obviously approved. I assumed the 7 to 10 day response meant rejection. I guess that isn't always the case!

It means they're still checking your information, and haven't made a decision yet. You can check back in about 5-7 days if you don't hear from them.

Sometimes, you don't get instant approval from lenders, they need more time to check all the info. That's basically what you have on your hands, so there's no need to worry.

It means that they need more time to review your information. It won't take 30 days for them to reply tho'. A week or so.

I just applied @ 1:30 via Experian, got the online “Under Review” on Chase site post submission, got an email @ 1:30 (same time) saying the same thing. Then @ 1:34 I got another email from Chase saying “Congratulations! Your new credit card is approved….”. Hang in there I’m sure you will get approved. My stats: 847 FICO/total available credit limit 59k+/total usage 15% (about 8k).
I applied for the Chase Amazon Prime and i was advised they was reviewing my application blah blah blah. 10 days later i get a letter from Chase wanting me to call them to confirm it was in fact me who applied for the card. Today is Saturday and theyre closed until Monday morning. The letter doesnt state anywhere that im approved just that they need to know of it wasnt some kind of fraud. Im wondering if that is all they want to know.
After waiting 7 days I called Chase to check on the progress of my application, and was then told that a letter of denial was in the mail as of June 14. I have a credit rating in the 800 range, owe very little on credit cards, own my home and vehicles and have a considerably higher income and net worth than most. What is WRONG with these people????? I' m still waiting on that letter.
