To add a Chase Sapphire Preferred authorized user, log in to your online account services or call customer service at 1-855-473-4583. You will need to provide the person’s full name, date of birth and address in order to add them as an authorized user on your Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card account.
A primary cardholder can make anyone a Chase Sapphire Preferred authorized user, as there are no minimum age requirements. There is a limit of 10 authorized users allowed on the account, though.
How to Add a Chase Sapphire Preferred Authorized User Online
- Log in to your Chase Sapphire Preferred card account.
- Click the “Services” tab.
- Click “Authorized users” under the “Card Management” menu.
- Enter the user’s details.
- Click “Add.”
When you add a a Chase Sapphire Preferred authorized user, they will receive their own credit card, sent to your mailing address, within 7-10 days of being added to the account. The authorized user’s credit card will be linked to your account and will have full access to the account’s credit limit. Chase authorized users are able to make purchases, report lost or stolen cards and initiate billing disputes. However, they cannot add or remove other authorized users, request a higher credit limit, or change payment information. In addition, any purchases an authorized user makes on the account will appear on your statement, and as the primary cardholder, you are responsible for all purchases on the account. Chase reports account information to all three of the major credit bureaus, which affects not only the user’s credit history, but also the primary cardholder’s. Authorized users may be removed from an account at the user’s or primary cardholder’s request at any time, and for any reason.
