The Chase Sapphire Reserve Global Entry benefit refunds the program’s $120 application fee, whether you’re approved or not. You can take advantage of this benefit once every 4 years, which is how often Global Entry requires you to re-apply.
Global Entry is a way for low-risk U.S. citizens to get through customs faster when they return from abroad. It requires screening by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which explains the cost. But if you pay the application fee with your Chase Sapphire Reserve card, you’ll receive a credit statement within 1-2 billing cycles.
5 Things to Know About Chase Sapphire Reserve Global Entry Benefit
- You must pay the Global Entry application fee with your Chase Sapphire Reserve card.
- Chase will detect the Global Entry application fee payment and the credit will appear on your credit card billing statement within 1-2 billing cycles.
- You can only get an application fee credited once every 4 years. But you also only need to reapply every 5 years.
- If you already have Global Entry or don’t think you will use this benefit, you can pay someone else’s application fee with your card and still get a credit.
- If you think you’d get more value out of TSA Pre-Check (which is for regular security rather than customs), you can get a credit for its $85 application fee. You can get a credit for either Global Entry or TSA Pre-Check, not both.
The Chase Sapphire Reserve Global Entry benefit is yet another way this card helps people save on travel. It supplements the card’s initial bonus of 125,000 points for spending $6,000 in the first 3 months and $300 annual travel credit. All those perks are important considering Chase Sapphire Reserve’s $795 annual fee.
