The Amazon Store Card works like any other credit card, except that it can only be used to make purchases on Amazon.com, at Whole Foods, and with other Amazon affiliates. The card is issued by Synchrony Bank, offers up to 5% back in rewards on purchases, and will charge interest if you carry a balance from month to month.
How the Amazon Store Card Works
- Earn rewards: This card offers $60 Amazon Gift Card upon approval. Plus, for Amazon Prime members, the Amazon Store Card will give 5% back in rewards on com and Whole Foods Market purchases.
- Redeem rewards: You can redeem your Amazon Store Card rewards either through your online account or from your Amazon account, depending on the redemption option. You can use your points as statement credits, or to make purchases on com.
- Card Acceptance: Keep in mind that the Amazon Store Card is only accepted on Amazon.com, Audible.com, merchant sites that accept Amazon Pay, and at some physical Amazon-branded stores, such as Amazon Books, Amazon 4-Star, and Amazon Go. Thus, any cash back earned can only go toward purchases made at those merchants (in the form of a statement credit) or be used directly for purchases on Amazon.com.
- Financing offers: It’s also worth noting that the Amazon Store Card has some financing offers for cardholders, but those are deferred interest offers, rather than true 0% APR.
Despite the Amazon Store Card’s limited acceptance, the wide range of products offered on Amazon.com combined with the high rewards-earning potential for Prime members make this card one of the best store credit cards on the market.
That said, even though it has a $0 annual fee, cardholders who don’t pay for a Prime membership won’t earn any rewards outside of the gift card for signing up that everyone gets.
