You have to wait at least 30 days before you can reapply for a Capital One credit card if your initial application was denied. In general, it’s recommended that you wait at least 6 months between credit card applications, though. This should give you enough time for your credit score to rebound after the previous hard inquiry.
If you're just looking to apply for a Capital One card that you had before but is now closed, then you can reapply anytime, as long as:
- You haven't received a sign-up bonus for that card in the last 48 months
- You haven't had a Capital One credit card that was charged off in the past year
- It's been more than 6 months since you got approved for a Capital One credit card
Please keep in mind that Capital One lets you check for pre-approval before submitting an application. Pre-approval won't guarantee that you'll get the card, but it will indicate that your chances of approval are high. Before your second attempt at your desired Capital One card, it's worth checking for pre-approval, so that you can avoid a hard inquiry if you're unlikely to succeed.
