You can get your Free Spirit Airlines Credit Card annual fee waived by calling customer service at (800) 732-9194 and speaking to a representative. This is much more likely to work if you’re a frequent spender and have a great payment history with the issuer. But even if not, there’s no harm in asking.
What to Know Before Trying to Get Your Annual Fee Waived
- The Free Spirit Airlines Credit Card already waives the annual fee for the 1st year.
- If the customer service representative refuses to waive your annual fee, state that you’d like to close the account. They may offer to waive the annual fee to keep you as a customer.
- You may have to call more than once before you get a representative who’s willing to negotiate, and there’s no guarantee this approach will work. You can also ask to speak to a manager.
- If you’re an active service member of the military you might qualify to have the annual fee waived. To find out if you’re eligible, call the issuer’s military benefits department at (877) 345-0693.
If negotiations fail, consider applying for another airline credit card that has no annual fee. One such example is United Gateway℠ Card. On top of the $0 annual fee, the card also offers 30,000 miles for spending $1,000 in the first 3 months, and 1 - 2 miles per $1 spent on purchases.
