The Spirit Airlines Credit Card is a decent option for Free Spirit rewards program members, offering modest rewards and the chance to earn a $100 credit each year. The Spirit Airlines Card requires good credit or better, however, and charges a $79 annual fee from the second year on. What I Like About the Spirit Airlines Credit Card

Good initial bonus

You’ll earn 60,000 bonus points, plus a $100 Companion Flight Voucher, after spending $1,000 in the first 90 days your account is open. Each point is worth $0.0116 on average, according to WalletHub research. So these bonus points are worth $696 or so.

That’s a pretty good deal, even compared to what people with good or excellent credit can get from some of the market’s best travel rewards credit cards. So this initial bonus is definitely a reason to apply for the Spirit Credit Card.

Decent ongoing rewards

You’ll earn 3 points / $1 spent on Spirit purchases, 2 points / $1 on dining and grocery store purchases, and 1 point / $1 spent on all other purchases made with the Free Spirit Airlines Credit Card. Those are decent but unspectacular earning rates, as Spirit points are only worth a bit more than 1 cent each. You can get a lot more value from some competitors.

Useful secondary benefits

Spending $5,000 in a year will get you a $100 Companion Flight Voucher after each account anniversary. You also have group 2 priority boarding on all flights, plus a 25% rebate on all inflight food and beverage purchases.

What I Don’t Like About the Spirit Airlines Credit Card

$79 annual fee, starting year two.

Annual fees are common on travel rewards credit cards, but you have to view the amount charged in terms of what you’ll get back, and the Free Spirit Card doesn’t give you enough for the money. Its annual fee is waived for the first year, thankfully. But it costs around 3 times as much as the average credit card each year thereafter, according to WalletHub’s latest Credit Card Landscape Report. You can get a lot more from other cards while spending a lot less.

Not the card for carrying a balance

The Spirit Airlines Credit Card doesn’t offer a 0% introductory APR. Its regular rate is likely to be above the average for people who can qualify. And it could be significantly higher, depending on where your credit currently stands.

So while we don’t recommend applying for the Spirit Card anyway, you definitely don’t want to do so if you aren’t going to pay your bill in full every month. Paying in full monthly prevents interest from being charged.

Requires good credit or better

You can log in to your Free Spirit Airlines Credit Card account by going to the login page on the Bank of America website or mobile app and entering your username and password in the appropriate fields. Then, click the “Sign in” to access your online account.

How to Register for Online Access on your Free Spirit Airlines Credit Card Account

Register your Free Spirit Airlines Credit Card for online account access. Click “Enroll” and enter the last 6 digits of your card or your account number and your Social Security number or Tax ID Number to verify your credit card account.
Choose your Free Spirit Airlines Credit Card username and password. The username must be between 6 and 32 characters, including special characters, but no spaces. The password must contain 8 to 20 characters and have at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, and one number. You cannot repeat the same number or letter more than 3 times in a row. The password is not case sensitive and may contain special characters.
Log in with your new Free Spirit Airlines Credit Card credentials. From the login page on the Bank of America website or its mobile app for iOS or Android, fill out the Online ID and Passcode fields using your new credentials, and click “Sign in” to access your account.

After you have signed up and logged in, you'll be able to manage your Free Spirit Airlines Credit Card account online. You can pay your credit card bill, see credit card statements, monitor account activity, and change account information such as passwords and automatic payments.

If you forget your login information, click “Forgot ID/Passcode?” on the Bank of America login page. Then, follow the prompts to reset or retrieve your username or password.

WARNING! Free Spirit World Elite Mastercard: Both Bank of America and Spirit have conducted misleading practices with their credit card. I do not recommend that you apply for this card. Do not do it. Your points are not supposed to expire. We had 60,000 points and were waiting for an opportune time to travel with our children. However, when the opportunity arose, we were unable to take advantage because they had eliminated our travel points. Now, all we are left with are broken dreams and the frustration of being unable to fulfill our wish to see our family. That was the reason we saved the points, which were supposedly non-expiring. Bank of America and Spirit have both acted irresponsibly, treating their customers unfairly. I do not recommend them; please do not fall victim to their deceit.

i have been a member for a few years now, and i have not received any type of discounts from spirit, I continue paying the regular rate on tickets and regular price on every suit cases yet they are requesting for me to pay $79 annual fee just to have the master card.

They are supposed to give you a $100 flight voucher with this credit card. It is absolutely worthless. There are tons of blackout dates. You cannot use flight points and the voucher at the same time, you have to pay with cash. Also, it’s only for the base fare. Your flight could be $150 but the base fare could be $70. You cannot use the flight voucher for any taxes or fees. You are only getting value on that $70. This is a waste of time on a credit card

Horrible application process - I have multiple products with Bank of America and decided to apply for this card as I needed to buy airline tickets where spirit was the best option. My application was queued for review as apparently they thought someone was trying to steal my identity. When I called the Bank of America customer service line, they told me to go to a BofA branch with two documents as proof of identity. The branch agents had no idea that the spirit card was a BofA product and I lost a good amount of time while they figured it out. Then they told me that they couldn't take the proof of identity and that I had to wait for a letter in the mail. A few days later, no one has reached out to me. Very poor operational and customer service processes. I'm no longer interested in the card and they probably affected my credit score with the hard pull

Tried to use card today. New card zero balance - card declined to purchase tires well within credit limit. Was declined and after 38 minute hold to get an explanation, ‘unauthorized use a car repair center!. That’s absurd having a card with unknown restrictive places for usage!

My longest standing credit card. The line has never increased from $1100 and Ive had it for years. My other credit lines range from $3000-$5000. I've never missed a payment on this card in the years I've had it. Have hardly ever gone over 30% usage. Now, 4 or 5 years later, I am late on ONE payment because I forget to set autopay after paying before due date over minimum for many years. They call. I apologize, pay for missed payment and next payment, set up auto pay, and they reduced my line to $600. How insulting. Because I was unknowingly late on a card that I've had excellent payment history on for years. If them not raising my limit wasn't bad enough, this drastic reduction of my limit for a late payment was simply insulting. Its a worthless card. Can't even use Spirit in this part of Florida. Delta offered me a card. I'm sure they'll have more class lol

I have at least a dozen credit cards and this card, by far, is the worst of them. The website is the most confusing I've ever seen and I've been in IT for over 40 years. I pay ALL of my bills, including ALL of my credit cards, through my bank Savings account. But not this one: Customer Service insists that I can only pay through my Checking account. That is not optimal for me since I have to remember to transfer the money every month before it is withdrawn; way too much work!

And, so far, they haven't been able to help me set up with AutoPay, which would help to make this a little easier.

Suffice to say that I am cancelling this credit card as soon as I use up the reward points.

I just had the worst customer service ever. I was on the phone for an hour just trying to get someone to help me log into my spirit account. I have had the CC for some time now and noone seems to know how to help. I am very disapponinted.

IT IS A SCAM... I booked a flight on the Spirit site and at point of sale a $100 voucher popped up, if I filled out a Bank Of America Application. No where were any terms except that I would owe an annual fee when the card renewed... I booked the first and second flight and got the bill.. no credit... then I look on the spirit airlines site and click apply and there you can see crazy terms... make $1000 in purchases and book within the first 90 days... BUT INFO WAS NOT AVAILABLE AT POINT OF SALE. Tryed to dispute with Bank of America and they said I was out of luck... BANK OF AMERICA FIRED and my impressions of value airlines took a hit, two notches down from next to nothing!
