Yes, the United Explorer Card offers a free checked bag to the primary cardholder and one traveling companion on the same reservation. To receive the benefit, the primary cardholder has to purchase the ticket with the United Explorer Card and add their MileagePlus number to the reservation. Note that some limitations apply.

- Authorized users can only qualify for the free checked bag benefit if they are traveling on the same reservation as the primary cardholder.
- The benefit applies only to United and United Express operated flights; codeshare partner flights are not eligible.
- Fees for oversized, overweight, or additional bags may still apply.
- Cardmembers who are already exempt from other checked baggage service charges will not receive this benefit.
- The benefit becomes available 2 weeks after account opening.
- The requirement to purchase the ticket with the card is waived for flights completed within the first 90 days after account opening.
