To avoid the annual fee on your American Express Platinum card, you should aim to cancel your card within 30 days of the closing date of the billing statement in which the fee is charged.
If you wait more than 30 days after the statement closing date, the annual fee becomes non-refundable, and you’ll be responsible for paying it. Make sure to check your billing statement and cancel before this window closes to avoid the charge.
Please note that this policy may not apply if your billing address is in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at the time you close the account.
