To update the phone number on your credit report, simply update the phone number on your loan or credit card accounts, through your online account portal or by calling customer service. When your lenders report to the credit bureaus, your phone number – including your phone number – will also update.
In addition, if there are errors on your credit report, you can file a dispute with the three major credit bureaus to correct them.
How to File a Dispute to Correct Information on Your Credit Report
- Review your credit report to locate the error.
- Choose a dispute method (online, phone or mail).
- File your dispute.
- Wait for the results (usually 30 to 45 days).
