A credit file is all the information about a person in a credit bureau’s database, including details like their name, their SSN, hard inquiries, account information, payment history and certain public records like bankruptcies. Credit files are used to create credit reports, which present the data in an organized format.
Your entire credit file is never delivered to anyone. Only certain information is sent to entities who request your credit report for a permissible purpose.
You can learn more about what’s included on your credit report and check your credit report for free here at WalletHub.
