You can use United miles to book flights on Lufthansa via the United website or mobile app. Since both airlines are part of the Star Alliance, you can also earn MileagePlus miles when flying with Lufthansa.
How to Use United Miles on Lufthansa
- Log In to Your MileagePlus Account: Visit the United website and log in to your MileagePlus account.
- Check Award Availability: Enter your route and travel dates, check the "Book with miles" box, and click "Find flights" to view available award flights.
- Select Your Flights: Scan the search results for flights operated by Lufthansa. Choose the flight that matches your travel itinerary and has available award seats.
- Book the Flight: Follow the booking process, provide the necessary information, and select the option to pay with MileagePlus miles.
- Confirm and Complete Your Booking: Review your booking details, confirm your reservation, and pay any applicable taxes and fees.
Once the booking is complete, you should receive a confirmation email with your flight details. You can manage your reservation, select seats, and make any necessary changes through the " My trips" section on the United website.
Award availability on partner flights is limited and can change quickly, so book early and stay flexible with dates and routes. If a partner flight doesn’t appear, it likely means the airline hasn’t released award seats yet. For the latest policies or assistance, check with United or call (800) 864-8331.
