You can transfer World of Hyatt points to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account using the “Convert Points to Miles” option on Hyatt’s “Air & Auto” page. Transfers start at 5,000 Hyatt points, in return for 2,000 Rapid Rewards points, and you can transfer additional points in 1,250-point increments, for a corresponding 500 Rapid Rewards points.
How to Transfer Hyatt Points to Southwest
- Go to Hyatt’s “Air & Auto” page: Click the “Convert Existing Points to Miles” option and log into your World of Hyatt account.
- Select Southwest: Choose Southwest Airlines from the “Airline” dropdown and enter your Rapid Rewards member number.
- Choose a denomination: Select the number of Hyatt points you wish to transfer to Southwest Rapid Rewards from the “Points to Convert” dropdown.
- Review and confirm your request: Double-check all transfer details, then click “Convert” to finalize your request.
When you convert 50,000 Hyatt points or more, you’ll get an extra 5,000 Rapid Rewards points on top of your transferred points. Transfers can take 6 to 8 weeks to process, so plan ahead if you want to book flights.
Is It Worth It to Transfer Hyatt Points to Southwest?
Hyatt points are worth about 2.1 cents each when redeemed for hotel stays, meaning 1,250 points are worth roughly $26.25 in bookings. However, if you transfer those 1,250 points to Southwest, you’ll receive only 500 Rapid Rewards points, worth about $6.05, resulting in a loss of $18.80.
