They suck. I’m currently an account holder and I have to call almost every week cuz stupid charges that always go in my account and end up not being able to get my money back. I don’t recommend anyone to Bank of America. They’re really really bad not worth the stress

Bank of America is the worst bank I've ever dealt with. I've been a customer for over 20 years and they keep changing their policies and doing ridiculous things. I think they are thieves and take advantage of people. A good example is I wrote a check into my account from another bank. Bank of America put a five day hold on the check before it credited my account. The check completely cleared my bank that night. They like to tell you that's just how it works, but I spoke with someone at my other bank and they said it was not actually true and that if the money clears their bank the other bank has it. Bank of America then holds thousands of dollars in limbo so they can earn interest off it and screw their clients. They do not care about people at all. They only care about the bottom line. I will be closing my accounts with them and will never recommend them to anyone.

Nope! Extreme failure. This bank can't even handle a timely deposit of a Cashiers Check. When you create a Cashier's Check, you withdraw the entire amount for the check, Pay one of the highest fees possible for a transaction outside of a massive money wire, you state who the payee and payer parties are to the transaction and thats that. Businesses across the country state that if the transaction is not to be in cash, a cashiers check or certified funds like a cashiers check are required. For example a home purchase, car purchase, a business transaction. Our case was sadly something quite personal and tragic. The massive inconvenience and situation a simple transaction can cause a family, just because a bank can’t do the most simple thing in 2021.
Teller says, cash will be available the next day. Nope. Holding for two weeks. No funds available.
If a bank cannot handle the deposit of a cashiers check, do business elsewhere. Bank of America is not in any way deserving of your hard earned dollars. In this case a check that is certified and forever have been considered cash in hand. I guess not. I have personal checks deposited that will clear faster. No more.
Pathetic. And to think our family was considering putting substantial amounts of money in for college funds and trusts, forget about it. Bank of America, OFF THE LIST. Would be ZERO stars if possible.

For the past couple of years, I've been having my card declined for specious activity when I've had more than enough funds to cover my transaction. It happens at least once every 2-4 weeks. It can be at a store around the corner from my house, or a store around the corner from where I work. I’ve checked my security settings online and made sure my address is correct. It's highly embarrassing, and I'm absolutely sick of it. I'm trying so hard not to switch banks mainly because of the hassle of it all. I've contacted customer service several times, I've stayed on the phone for an hour waiting to talk to somebody only to get disconnected and to start over. I've talked to the Fraud department twice. The first guy, Max, tried to accuse me of not knowing how to use a debit card. I was very offended. But ultimately he said it could be a bad chip on the card and he sent me a new card with the same numbers so that I wouldn't have to go through the hassle of changing everything. Unfortunately, he didn't keep my security code the same. Well that card is now gone and if I need to provide my security code, well I just can't make that purchase. If you talk to Max tell him thanks for nothing. Actually, he made the situation slightly worse. I called Fraud a second time only to be told there's nothing they could do since I confirmed all the previous transactions and my card was active. Well, here I am again. This morning my card was declined, literally around the corner from my work. The only thing I know to do is suck it up, dump BOA, tell my story on anything and everything so that others won't fall for their terrible customer service. I'm sorry. But this is ridiculous. Like I said before, it's embarrassing when it happens. And I'm absolutely done.

I had my account for about 7 months and from the get, it's a nightmare. The banker that opened my account failed to mention the stipulation that my account would be charged $12 monthly unless I had a certain amount deposited in one transaction each month. I am a server, so my checks are not that large and I probably wouldnt have taken this account if I knew I would be charged monthly. A few months in, I deal with some fraud on my account to the tune of $40, which I call and deal with, but my claim eventually got overturned and they gave the money back to the scammers. Now, I closed my account months ago, but with this stimulus check coming out, the irs sent my check to good old boa. They rejected the check, sent me no notice, and have no info online about what happens in my situation where closed accounts get sent checks, so I call and wait on hold for 30 minutes to deal with the rudest employee they have, whom informs my boa cant accept payments once an account is closed (which is not true, my fiance's old bank sent him his check). I wish I could give them negative stars. Will never work with this bank again.

I have banked with Bank of America since I opened my first account 6 years ago and I have never had an issue here. I usually get an email if my account is at or below $25 which allows me to take care of things before I overdraft and therefore have never had an overdraft fee. On 01/06/2021 I was charged an overdraft fee but did not get notified of the overdraft fee or the $25 balance until 01/07/2021 at 1238. I decided to call customer service and see if they were willing to refund the fee as I have heard most banks do especially if it's the first occurrence. I spoke to a gentleman at 2:06 pm and explained the situation. The man proceeded to ask " Is it the bank's fault you got an overdraft fee" after again explaining that I have never had an issue receiving notification and this time had not received one until after the money had been withdrawn he asked, "Well why didn't you sign up for the overdraft protection". This man was extremely rude and made me feel very disrespected. A simple " no ma'am we are unable to refund the fee" would have been okay. I felt the attitude displayed toward me was unprofessional, unnecessary, and degrading. After today's incident, I cannot recommend Bank of Americal to any of my friends or family. As a 6 year customer of this institution, I am severely disappointed at the unprofessional behavior and poor service I received. Today's display is making me consider taking my business to another financial institution.

Absolute garbage. Complete lies. I was promised $100 for setting up an account, not only was this NOT applied the first deposit is being held for 5 days!!!! When the check was deposited it clearly said 24hr hold. Bank of America might as well be bank robbers. Liars and Thieves. P.S. this post was after being on hold for an hour and then being told I would be transferred only to be hung up on. Do yourself a favor bank with anyone else
