Bank of America is by far the most incompetent and inhumane bank I have ever dealt with. I opened a joint account back in 2018. I ended the relationship and my first act was to remove the now ex from the account. Went into the bank and requested he be removed as it is my account, I have been depositing money and using it for over 4 years. My ex never had a debit card l, he never deposited any money or used the account PERIOD! I was told that he has been removed from the account by my request that day and that I could also update my information on the mobile app. I was told by a teller that he was removed and then 2 years later after having had no issues my account and money is all gone. I call customer service and they inform me that my ex was never removed and that in order to remove someone from a joint account both parties have to meet at the bank and sign a notarized form. This is NOT what I was told, how am I supposed to know any better as a customer that this is policy ?? That is THEIR job to tell their customers what has to be done in order for someone to be removed from an account. Due to some incompetent employee I lost all the funds and account was closed and I was told there was nothing they could do after I was initially told by the first representative that my money would I go back into my account in 2-3 business days. I find out within hours later I’m not getting my money back after being told that I would !!!! This is completely unethical and the fault is their screw up. This is the account I use to receive my child support payments through the state as well as auto draft car payments!!! I will never recommend or bank with them again. They violated my privacy and gave the crazy ex my information my address, my new number ontop of letting him steal money from me and my child. I left this man because I feared for my safety and he was stalking me and being controlling. I had to change my number because he was showing up at my job and calling me all hours of the night and when I blocked him he changed his number to continue to call and harass me. I had to jump through all these hoops with the law to get him to leave me alone and then he does this and BOFA left him do it. Now he has a way to find me harm me and my daughter and they care about that. I told them he is not my ex husband he is the ex that I almost married. I was told he was off the account when I walked in initially to have him removed and was told he was removed!!! it was my name ONLY that showed on the account on the app I had my email, my phone number and my address and no issues for over 2 years but some idiot employee gave my information to let him steal my money that was never his to access and to close the account. How is it that two parties have to sign a notarized form to have one party removed but this is not required to clean out or close an account??? Now I have to go to court again to see this deplorable of a human being and fear for my safety and my child’s all over again. Now I have to prove that he stole my child support money and has comprised my ability to receive payments from the state. And all the savings are gone and now I have to deal with issues regarding how to make a car payment every month and be charged an extra fee to process online of 15$ every month because of them. Do not even consider letting this bank handle your money this bank. I definitely felt that because I’m a white woman the black female representatives discriminated against me for sure. They are incompetent and racist towards white people. I hope this bank goes out of business and rightfully should.
Absolute nightmare to get anything done properly. Has put my mother into panic attacks on a normal basis because of their incompetence. I could list them all. But they wouldn't fit on one page. Will be closing out accounts very soon. I'm done dealing with this. And having to talk my mother down from an anxiety attack every time she looks at her accounts. DONE! Opened a Chase account and things are fairly easily done through them. I will be taking her finances elsewhere soon. I've never hated a Bank so much in my life.
