Bank of America has terrible software on their web site and in their Mobile banking App. Customer support did not solve our issues and suggested that we did not know how to navigate to their web site or install the correct app.
If you have patience for a long rant, read on.
BofA web site and app don't work. After weeks of trying to apply for credit cards, activate them, login to web, and use Bank of America Mobile Banking app and getting dozens of "technical problems, try again later" messages, we finally got an application to go through despite having received letters in the mail saying we were preapproved.
We registered an account on the web site and were able to log into the Bank of America Mobile Banking app as well. BofA did not acknowledge the application by email or phone. Logging into the web site and app gave no indication of the application status. Calling customer support revealed that several applications had gone through despite the error messages and that duplicate applications had been canceled.
After a week cards came in the mail. Web and App activation failed. Phone activation worked, but web and app did not recognize the cards. Customer support suggested we were using the wrong web site and app and then directed us to enroll a new account because "Tommy" couldn't find our original account. She directed us to the same site and app that we had been using, and when we could not use our email address as the ID, she refused to believe that we already had that account and insisted that someone else was using our email ID as their BofA ID and that our previous efforts had been on the wrong web site and app.
No thank you, BofA! We will do business with companies whose software works reliably and whose customer support is competent.

Got a new card that is serviced by Bank of America and it has been a nightmare. Application and approval is easy, now if you use the temporary card some charges will go through and some will decline. Just try to call to find out why and it is 1 1/2 hr wait time to talk to someone if you can hold on that long. I log into the account online to see if I can try another way, see a message that says "We noticed some unusual activity on your account. Protect your account by reviewing some recent transactions. Call us immediately at 1-800-427-2449 or international collect at 609-459-5004" another on hold forever department. Also on the website it is only showing me my balance not what the individual charges are, it is like they want it to be difficult. It is a reward creditcard but I most likely will cash out the rewards and cancel the card, it is not worth the trouble. I'll also advise the reward company why I won't use their card until they change banks. I have several Chase cc with not one issue. They should change their name to Bank of Hello minus the o.

I was consolidating various accounts from other banks into BOA, total ,,,,,,, 400k . I am shocked at the treatment I received from these people. Putting holds on certified bank checks for 14 days ? Claiming deposits were on hold that had already cleared ? Average hold time with customer service 3 hours. Most of all the outright rude and dismissive attitudes of these employees. Shocking behavior and they clearly don't care that they lost a seven figure customer. This bank will fail ,,,,not with my money they won't. Go local , go small bank , at least they speak English

Biggest complaint is the hold time for Customer Support was 45 minutes. The agent was unable to address my issue, I asked for a supervisor and was on hold for additional 15 minutes. My card was declined because my charges were too close to the credit limit, even though my full payment was paid electronically one day before the due date. The supervisor advised me that it took 5-7 business days for the credit to post. When I initially applied for this card, it took over a week to be approved with a credit score of 860. Worst experience ever with a credit card company.

I called the number on the back of my credit card on May 9, 2026, on or around 3:00 p.m. (PDT). Bank of America (BofA) has the worst Interactive Voice Response system (IVR). It kept going in circles and repeating the same questions I already answered. It was difficult to get an agent. Moreover, this is not a one-time isolated event; this has been a pattern and practice. I have left complaints to supervisors on innumerable occasions and they have not resolved this matter. In addition, I spoke to a male employee in the Arizona call center, as I was submitting a valid complaint about the IVR, he deliberately and willfully disconnected on me. I seek to hold Bank of America accountable. To file complaints against BofA, send your complaints to: BBB, CFPB, FTC and OAG.

Several years ago I cut up my Bank of America credit card, put it in an envelope with the balance amount and told them to cancel the account. I mailed it return receipt requested. I had the tracking number for it. They didn't credit it to the account until over a week after they received it. I never got the return receipt but I have the USPS app so saw when they got it. We spoke to customer service who promised to waive interest charges, that we believe we should not have to pay. They agreed to cancel all the charges, but we were notified by email the next day when we tried to dispute the transaction that they declined it. They set expectations when we spoke to them on the phone and they shouldn’t lie to their customers. When we called them back, I spoke to a supervisor who agreed with us that this was an issue. He said they don’t allow him to make any adjustments, even when the bank is at fault. Bank of America’s policy is to NOT to refund any interest payments. This bank has no ethics or integrity and does not value customer service at all. CLOSING MY ACCOUNT WITH THIS BANK. Never again dealing with this rip-off bank!

They approved me for a credit card, and before I could even activate it, I got a letter saying there was suspicious activity on the account nobody has ever used. Naturally, it won't activate by any means now, and every time I call, I'm on hold for eternity, so I've just given up! Then they sent a letter saying I filed an identity theft claim. Not true! Who does this? They're insane!

ALERT: BOA is changing it's DEPOSIT AGREEMENTS to include ARBITRAION and, potentially, ELIMINATE virtually all access to the courts personally or through a class action suit. Unless you keep reading what looks like pages of typical "boiler plate" paragraphs, you will NOT SEE that you can OPT OUT WITHOUT PENALTY. This is unusual because we have become used to "take it or leave it." I strongly urge BOA customers to read and understand this option; you MUST respond or it will automatically go into effect. Let other BOA customers know too.

Bank of America decided to close both of my accounts due to their concerns I may embarrass them while utilizing my Checking and Savings accounts due to trading in Bitcoin. I tried to get information from a manager and was rudely treated by a manager who I had asked to speak too to find out why they closed my accounts. The manager would not provide me any information and told me to research the problem on my own. He then hung up on me before I could complete my sentence. If this is the way this bank wants to treat their customers. they can bite me.

I have been a customer of Bank of America for over 30 years, and this was by far the worst customer service experience I have ever had. It took an entire week just to add a person to the account, and then only another 10 minutes to process a wire transfer.
On my first visit to complete a wire transfer from our business account, I found out that even though I originally opened the account with our LLC documentation, I was never actually added to the account. I was told I needed corporate documents and minutes, and that both account holders had to be present at the same time. I went home and spent significant time preparing all of the requested paperwork.
I returned the next day, waited 1 hour and 40 minutes, and asked if they could at least begin the process so my wife could come in later during a break to sign. They refused. I then visited another branch and was told the same thing.
The following day, I returned to the bank again with all the paperwork and explained that my wife would be coming in shortly to complete the process. When she arrived, we were told it would take at least 40 minutes to complete the paperwork and that we would have to wait. After waiting an hour just to see a customer service representative, my wife no longer had another 40 minutes available, so we asked them to at least process the wire transfer, which they then completed incorrectly.
The next morning, I arrived early and was told they had no time and would not even begin the process unless both my wife and I were present from the start.
When I told the branch manager I was considering moving my business elsewhere, the response was essentially, “we can prepare a cashier’s check so you can take your money out.” That was shockingly dismissive for a loyal customer of more than 30 years. I have seen this same comment mentioned in other reviews, which only reinforces the impression that Bank of America does not care about retaining long-term customers.
Ironically, when we finally returned again together at noon and waited about 30 minutes, the entire process took only about 20 minutes, and none of the paperwork they originally told me to prepare was even required.
Very disappointed by the lack of professionalism, poor communication, and complete disregard for customer time.
