Citizens Bank Credit Card Reviews
What's Your Rating?
And no matter when you call, you will be told that “wait times are longer than normal. So I can only assume that the term “normal” refers to “in the past.”
In illustration of their behavior:
On 5/2/23, I noticed a debit charge on my account, from Amazon, for Amazon Prime service, which I don’t subscribe to. Since I have seen erroneous charges in the past that resolve in a day or so, I made the mistake of calling customer service and asking the representative to investigate the charge, and to freeze the card, just in case it was more than just a mischarge. He said that to investigate, they would have to cancel my card. I finally gave permission, and he said that a new card would be sent. When the card never arrived, I called again, and it turned out that he did nothing. No new cord was ordered and no investigation was initiated.
On 5/5, when I called to check on the status of the investigation, I learned that nothing was being done, and was told that my replacement card would be sent out on an emergency basis, and would take 2 “working days” to arrive. In the past, the new card would appear overnight. But today, 2 working days means weekdays, so, my card, ordered on Friday, might arrive on Tuesday, 5/9.
But of course it didn’t. And today, when I called to find out why, I was told that it had NOT been sent on an emergency basis, and so would arrive in 3 to 5 “working days.” So, in reality, that probably means Friday.
So...the first person lied. And did not do his job. The second person lied. And the latest. She said she would “initiate an investigation.” You can guess how much confidence I have in that happening.
So of course, after more than 40 years of being a customer, I’ve had enough, and will be leaving them.
After being a loyal customer, paying on-time 100%, no late payments, no fees, no interest on my credit cards, 700+ credit score, Citizens bank decides to close my account for inactivity for only 3 months and revoke all my hard-earned cashback. I already called customer service and even spoke to the Chairman Steven Matthews. Despite the fact that he tried to help me, he ended up saying there's nothing he can do to help retrieve the account because once its closed, its closed. I never had this kind of issue from a credit card company but its quite shady and unforgiving credit card company. Loyalty does not exist with this company, they only want your money, they don't want you to beat them at their own game and they will do anything they can do steal your cashback to give an excuse of "inactivity for 3 months..."
So I would stay away from this company as far as possible and not give them my business anymore. Better to stick with other reputable credit card companies that are more forgiving and loyal to their customers.
