Citizens Bank Personal Loan Review
Citizens Bank offers personal loans with no fees and a relatively low APR, at 6.79% to 20.88%. These loans are best for people with fair-to-good credit, as people with excellent credit will be able to find slightly lower minimum rates elsewhere. Citizens Bank’s minimum credit score for personal loans is 680, which is just before the start of the good credit range. Another positive quality of Citizens Bank personal loans is that it’s possible to apply with a co-applicant, something many lenders don’t allow. While Citizens Bank only has branches in 11 states, that won’t stop people in other states from qualifying for a loan. Citizens Bank has a national lending division called “Citizens One” with the same terms on personal loans. Citizens Bank Personal Loan Review Highlights: • Citizens Bank personal loan rates: 6.79% to 20.88% • Loan amounts: $5,000 to $15,000 • Payoff timeline: 36 to 84 months • Time for approval: 1 to 10 business days • Time for funding: 3 to 6 business days • Fees: None • Credit score required: 680 • Other requirements: 18+ years old, U.S. citizen or permanent resident, SSN • Co-applicants: Allowed Citizens Bank personal loans offer many benefits with few drawbacks. Someone used by business card to charge a bunch of stuff. It overdrew my account and I got slammed with overdraft fees.
They credit me back the money for the charges and did not reverse the overdraft fees. It has been 6 weeks.
I called again to take it off and I am hold now for 35 minutes and still no resolution.
They see the reverse charges due to fraud and still can't reverse the charges the first time I called and now I have wasted 35 minutes with no resolution.
There was no reason why the initial claim was not honored.
I am closing my account and taking my business somewhere else.

I inherited several citizens accounts and I could not get the money out of there fast enough. They charge for every little thing they do. I moved the money to another back that does not nickel and dime me. Today, I closed the last account I had with them. They charged me $175 to close my account. $100 to close the account and a $75 annual fee. Seriously!

I applied for a construction loan and was pre-approved. My original loan officer left the company and I can not get in touch with my new loan officer or the original assistant to submit my last documents. The system will not allow me to do so. I have no idea what is going on. I reached out to the supervisor and no response. I reached out to another loan officer and asked to switch. I talked to this loan officer I reached out to who said one of his supervisors would call and still nothing. What is wrong with this bank? How hard is it to call someone and let them n=know what is going on? Horrible company.
I am a long time customer of Citizen’s Bank, having originally been a Charter One customer prior to the merger/acquisition. I have noticed a sharp decline in customer service over the past 3 years. I had always kept my credit card with a bank separate from my checking and savings accounts. About 3 years ago, I finally changed over (after MANY solicitations) to a Citizen’s credit card. I have had nothing but issues since day one, from the account mysteriously changing to electronic statements (I had selected paper) causing me to miss a payment, to most recently having the Citizens App glitch, not only not sending a payment to my credit card, but having no record of it after it was entered. All of which equals late payment and interest fees on a balance that is paid off EVERY month. It is interesting that the bank can send multiple emails every week about pre-approved HELOC offers, yet can’t send a single notice that a payment was inadvertently missed. Instead, the communication comes in the form of the credit card being denied at a retailer 12 days after said payment was missed. 12 days! And unfortunately the customer service reps are reading from scripts, so they are not only not useful but quite frankly demonstrate that they could care less about you nor do they want to listen to your side of the story. So much for the old adage of the customer always being right. Additionally, having already made a transfer on their website from my checking account to the credit card of the full balance (including that not yet due), I would have expected the “hold” on the account to be released. Nope - I was told that it could take one, maybe two business days to release the hold, even though the rep could see the transaction from one account to the other. If you’d like to be treated as a derelict, then by all means open an account here and contact their customer service. It really is a shame as this was a good bank. And if you are wondering why I’m still a customer, I won’t be for much longer as I am moving all of my accounts elsewhere after this last round.
The citizen's bank in Burgettstown is covering up the fact they fired an employee less than a year ago who was accessing other people's accounts

Terminated my savings for the second time without my knowledge or any explanation , I don’t recommend this bank, I would give zero stars if I could. (I don’t like to leave bad reviews unless push comes to shove)
Wow. Read the reviews with citizen bank very disapointed with the bank lately even the bank employees laugh at how the bank is being run . When it closes it's teller window with nothing more than a larg rag with its logo on it an forces you to go to a teller machine because they say the bank does not want to have real employees their to help you, Time for new bank. Been a long time customer and so were my parents and grandparents. I am real person i have spoke to two brank mgs. And a district mgt when she vistited the branch in stop and shop in north kingstown ri.she has never responded to my request to speak to her in the past. One more thing the branch is in the stop shop out side as you walk into the store their is a citizen bank sign in the widow. Its says their open sunday. Been their since covid started. The two branch manager know and so does the district mgt . Just to show how much they do not care about the customer.
Saver beware!!! If I could give a rating of zero, I would. Citizens was running a promotion that was mailed to our home. One could receive 300.00 if you deposited 500.00 in a checking account and a substantial amount in a savings account at the same time. That was January of 2023. We were in the office for 90 minutes and made the necessary deposits via wire transfer. Both the banker and branch manager were involved. On May 31 a deposit of 300.00 was supposed to made in each account. Nothing on May 31. Waited til June 10th and called the branch manager. He said there must be a hold up. If it is not deposited by June 31st call me. Nothing on June31st. Scheduled in person with branch manager. He pulled out a piece of paper with the promo blown up and a section highlighted that said the money had to be direct deposited from a retirement account or payroll direct deposit. I asked why he didn’t say anything at the initial 90 minute meeting or before the March 31st deadline, or the June 10th call I had with him. He said the Marketing department had denied both payments. I asked for the head of marketing’s name and number and he would not give it to me. He said he had a meeting with the Regional Manager at 1400 hours that afternoon. He called to say a rep from the Office of the chairman would call in 24 hours. Four days later I received an email that they were denying both promotions. In the email I was informed to call if I had a problem. I called and left several messages. Never received a call back. Sent another email and they agreed to pay one 300.00 promo but not the other. Tried to call and email again and noooo response. Fast forward to August. Closed both accounts and transferred to a bank with real customer service and that cares about their customers. Citizens Bank uses very deceptive practices to lure customers and very poor customer service. They certainly don’t represent this citizen.
Applied. Never gave me a decision at first. Got a card from them in the mail a week later with a $500 Credit limit. I wanted to take advantage of the balance transfer option and didn’t realize citizens bank is a joke and offers such low limits effectively making this card worthless to me. I closed the account the same day I received it. CSR I spoke with didn’t seem to care at all when I told her why.
I cannot believe this bank is allowed to operate. Other than the awful customer service and the fact that every representative says a different thing, they are completely inaccessible. Our cars title is held at the bank, and in order to register it in the state we just moved to, we need the physical title to be send to our respective states DMV. They said it would take 2-3 weeks, it has now been 4. After calling them multiple time a week for a status update on the title (since it’s time sensitive via parking pass, ticketing/towing, etc.) the first representative said it needs to go through our previous home state and that they “can’t do anything about it.” After calling our previous home state’s DMV, the very kind lady informed us that that is 100% not the case, and Citizens Bank needs to physically mail the title to our new state’s DMV. We called Citizens Bank back with the new information and they said they, “don’t know the status, it’s not their job, and it has nothing to do with them.” This is a LEGAL document. Absolutely incompetent individuals. In the words of Tyra Banks, “It is so bad, I want to give you a zero, but that's not possible, so I give you a one.”
Yes, a Citizens Bank account is FDIC-insured up to $250,000 per customer, per account ownership category. This means that even if Citizens Bank fails, you will eventually be able to recover an individual account's balance up to $250,000.
If you have a joint account, each co-owner of the account is considered a separately insured customer. As a result, you can collectively recover the account's balance up to $500,000 in the event of a bank failure, assuming you have no other shared accounts.
However, not all financial products offered by Citizens Bank are FDIC-insured. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation only insures deposit accounts. They do not insure investment products, which can lose value.

Yes, you can refinance a Citizens Bank personal loan using either a new personal loan or a balance transfer credit card from a different lender.
